Ah! The Go music. Now replaced by the catchy easyJet music from their ads.
Spanish airline Viva used to play Spanish classical guitar music. I also vividly remember the Air 2000 ‘playlist’ circa 1992, and flying on a British Midland charter which played top 40 chart music in 1993.
And Bombardier, as I was told on this very forum!
Indeed, but they are essentially in a different marketplace.
Im glad they kept the name Braathens instead of calling it SAS Norway. Braathens has a proud history and has long been known both in Norway and Europe.
Excellent point, but the livery is very uninspired.
Notwithstanding all of the above, let’s remember that the US competition authorities gave the green light to Boeing’s takeover of McDonnell Douglas, thus creating the above mentioned duopoly.
No problem – I’ve been on the receiving end of Mexicans who insist that they don’t live in South America or even Latin America on more than one occasion!
Also, don’t forget BA’s stakeholding and links with Iberia which is seen as the best European airline to Latin America
Aerolineas Argentinas technically do still fly to London. They have an MD88 based in Madrid which offers services from Paris and Gatwick connecting with the service to Buenos Aires. Lan code shares with BA for connections at Madrid (OneWorld Alliance).
Also, Mexico is in North America, not South America.
so that’s what simulated instrument flying is 😉
Strictly off subject, but what happened to the French Regional carrier “TAT” that BA aquired a few years back?
TAT was merged with Air Liberte. BA subsequently sold its shareholding in the (lossmaking) merged carrier. This subsequently merged with AOM to form AOM/Air Liberte, but filed for administration in summer 2001:

Oh, the days when TAT F28s visited Manchester in BA colours! 😀
Thomas Cook are starting Fortnightly flights to Cayo Santa Maria in cuba. The island has only two hotels, both of which are compact and hold less than 200 people, at this time, the hotels get around 50 vistors per month, thomas cook plans to triple this by next year.
The airport needs modernisaton however and the work is due for completion very soon. The flight is though to be running from Manchester however Gatwick is also a possibility.
All this after two years ago Thomas Cook announced it was the first tour operator to operate its own flights and holidays to the deserted caribean island of Cayo Coco of the coast of cuba.

I assume they’re going to build more hotels, or else TCX 330s are going to be operating almost half empty!
In some Companies the Unions are either not there or not powerful enough to counterbalance the management power. In such companied most of the times the employess are just screwed to make more monye for the share holders, especially when the business is not to good.
Some companies don’t recognise unions  That’s a problem when mass redundancies become an issue (believe me, I’ve been there)
Absenteeism is a well recognised trait of worker dissatisfaction. BA ramp rats may be paid more than others, but it doesn’t mean their working conditions are necessarily any better. Whether you agree or disagree with their action, BA workers should recognise their immense power in bringing such a carrier to virtual breaking point and drawing attention to their issue. Without any union/militant support, such a thing would not be possible and senior management would just walk all over them.
Sack those guilty of it and hire new staff I say.
Unfortunately for BA, that’s easier said than done. You can’t sack someone for having a day off ‘sick’. Says something about morale at BA though.
Well, this news shows exactly how much he was talking out of his ass. Airbus are spooked and rightly so.
I agree. The current 330 models will be fine for the next 5 years or so, but by the time the 7e7 enters commercial service I expect the 330s will seem pretty dated. Whether a new model is the answer or not I’m not sure, but Airbus are clearly going to have to do something to compete.
Something to compete with the 757 on range (i.e. not the 321) would look promising.
