One of their aircraft has been impounded at Shannon:
http://www.rte.ie/business/2004/0521/skynet.html
“Skynet, an Irish registered airline which operates out of Shannon Airport, has had one of its planes impounded at Shannon airport.
The plane is subject to a High Court Order from a third party, thought to be the owner of the plane, not Aer Rianta.
Aer Rianta is satisfied that there will be no immediate effect to pasengers, as Skynet has made other arrangements with Aer Lingus, one of Skynet’s codeshare partners.
The two year old airline provides a service between Shannon, Amsterdam and Moscow and had planned over the coming months to extend its routes to cover other European destinations.
It’s understood a difficulty has arisen between Skynet and the company it leases from over a payment due which has been delayed because of time zone differences in the US.
Sources close to the company have denied there are any difficulties with the solvency of the company and is now in the process of chartering another aircraft so that services out of Shannon can be resumed.”
ISomeone mentioned having to use long-haul 767’s in Europe. Don’t BA use the 763 to Athens still (they used to use the 762)?
Yes, they do. Not sure if its a longhaul 763 or not.
Sorry, I think you’re right. Haven’t been there for a few months. I should have said that it would be good to see SAA return.
From Manchester I’d like to see a new route to Japan and the restarting of services to South Africa.
They r staring to MAN aswell! Never knew that. Al the best to them i say!
At those prices and given the number of times I travel from Kent (where I live) to Manchester (where my family live) I’ll definitely use them. Pity the service doesn’t start until the autumn.
They are very good looking, unlike the aircraft wearing the new Novair livery…
I quite like that! It’s very summer-y
its not when you compare it, its completly different it has a toilet were the first row of the 757 seats start on the left hand side
The diagram shows no rear doors, indicating the suspicious Boeing 187 may have rear engines 😉 (couldn’t be an MD-80 series either due to the location of the fire escapes)
thanks 🙂
Kalamata (http://www.btinternet.com/~zola25/Duxford.htm), which is also a military base and probably why the Greek authorities turn a blind eye at places like Rhodes. The new Athens airport at Eleftherios Venizelos has an indoor viewing facility of the entire apron in the terminal and no one seemed bothered that I was noting aircraft regs. Probably a bit risky even so
Ooo please. 777 to ORD, but then bmi would suffer. Why don’t they just put a 777 on the ORD service now?? I hope MAN-MIA will happen. We do need a MIA link. And a secnond EWR link would be good. Probably a 757.
BHX is getting one so I assume MAN could equally pull it off. I’m annoyed that AA only announced the MAN/BOS route after I’d gone and booked a standard BA flight from LHR/BOS for my holidays! Was very tempted to go via KEF with FI 🙂 .
I’ve only been to STN once, not for the FRs and EZYs but for the likes of Air Berlin and Sky Europe, which you don’t get at other lo-co airports.
Its the company’s full name. Goes back to the days when it was part owned by Aer Lingus.
