Bit of a long shot but you could try contacting these:
http://www.aquilapolonica.com/
I had a couple of scarce books from them about 6 months ago- but their site hasn’t developed much since then.
If it helps
155154 Leslie MILLER, F/O, 42 OTU, LG 26/1/45 p 581
184132 Leslie Frank MILLER, P/O, 35 Squadron, LG 17/4/45 p2027
Unfortunately the 35 Squadron History ‘We Act With One Accord’ isn’t indexed but I can’t find anything obvious.
Thanks T21- detail much appreciated
Superb shots, thanks
Try writing to the CWGC asking if they have any additional information, that held on the database is simply a template filled in from the info that they hold.
Thanks chaps the Pelican connection looks pretty convincing, thanks. What a very knowledgeable lot frequent this forum!
thanks Don
Try checking their web sites, both run special events from time to time that will add a bit more to the visit. haven’t been to FAA Museum for years but (as is evidenced elsewhere on the forum) some areas of Hendon are often closed to the public.
Only loosely connected to the thread but may be of interest. My dad was an ATC assistant post war, ending his days at Church Fenton. As a kid he always told me how he’d escaped death by swapping a shift with his mate who wanted to see a girl. My dad swapped and a Meteor went into the caravan killing his mate. I always dismissed it as a story until I looked it up recently and saw that on 10/1/52 WE854 did indeed take out the caravan and kill one on the ground.
Mind you my dad has always been a car nut and is always seems more fed up that ‘his’ new Landy was wrecked!
If anyone has a photo of WE854 I’d be interested to see it.
Not a regular poster here so at the risk of being shot down in flames re the new format, sorry I just don’t like it. Having taken the magazine for over 20 years it’s not that I’m adverse to change, but it seems to be a triumph of style over substance. The font on some of the items is hard to read (Briefings) and in some cases relegated to the status of a foot note (Eagle Hurricane). Some items continue to hold their own but others just seem to be ‘fillers’; two pages describing 12 roundels anyone?
Coupled with the previously discussed supplement I think it’s far from Fly Past’s finest hour, reminds me of the books I used to get from the library as a kid- lots of pictures and scant info.
OK, my flack jacket is on so go ahead…..
If you want to see if they survived the war a quick check on the CWGC site will reveal all. As for the guy that wrote the list, he was probably German and should have paid more attention in handwriting class!
The details I have come from ‘Footprints on the sands of time’ by Oliver Clutton Brock. It contains a roll of Bomber Command POW’s and a lot of useful background info. It went onto clearance some time ago so you may be able to get acheap copy from the usual outlets or, failing that, get your local library to order it for you.

I have the log book medals and various bits to F/Sgt Albert Oxley, the DFC and family archive of F/Lt Rolf Cardale Luck and the medals of F/O Douglas Cowan Moore. All purchased separately. The special bit? All were part of the same Catalina crew lost on a special duty op’ in Burma Oct ’44. (Still looking for the rest of the crew!)
