Hi,
I just found out today that the Cambridge Bomber and Fighter Society are planning to rebuild Fury K1926. They took delivery of parts of the fuselage and wings last year.
Other than that I don’t have any other details.

Hi,
Very interested in photos of Furys and Nimrods at the moment, for obvious reasons as explained by JDK.
The photo of Fury K2048 actualy shows it in the markings of 1 Squadron. The markings of 1 and 25 Squadrons were very similar and could only be distinguished by the colour. 1 Sqn’s were red and 25 Sqn’s were black. In the spearpoint on the fin you can just make out 1 Sqn’s badge, a winged red 1.
As James said the manuscript for my Fury/Nimrod book has been done but as always we are always looking for more photos. Can anyone help?
Can’t wait for your Lizzie book James.

Hi,
In The Times dated 15 December 1937 there is the following:
Plt Off Andrew Aitken, Sgt Duncan Robert Francis Ross, Corporal John Bennet and LAC William Lemuel Sillince lost their lives in an accident at Stopham Bridge, Sussex on Monday (13th) night to an aircraft of 149 Squadron, RAF Mildenhall. Mr Aitken was the pilot.
The aeroplane was heard flying low before it crashed in a sloping field about a mile and a half from the main Pulborough-Petworth road. The amchine took fire on crashing, and villagers who hurried to the scene were beaten back by the intense heat.
At that time 149 Squadron flew Heyfords.
Hope this helps,
Alex
Hi,
The only thing I can think of that may need a 5 mile runway would be for the Shuttle in the case of an emergency.

Hi Guys,
Just had word back from the Forum Copenhagen. The reply was:
“Yes we are convienced that the exhibition took place in Forum (that is before it was bombed in 2nd world war – it now looks somewhat different). We will try to find out the exact year next week and get back to you.”
Thanks again to everyone for their detective work.
Alex
Hi Chris,
Thanks for that. I’ll see if I can find a copy of that programme.
Alex
Hi,
Thanks for the link. An email is winging its way to Denmark. I’ll let you all know the outcome.
Alex
Hi,
Thanks for eveyones attempts to locate the exhibition, much appreciated.
I was sent 2 CDs full of Danish Nimrod photos a couple of years ago, I think there are 100-150 photos in total. I got them to use in a book I’m doing on the Hawker Fury/Nimrod. The manuscript is almost ready to go to the publisher and I am trying to tie down a few loose ends.

Hi Albert,
What a divvy. Yes I did mean the Hind. I can’t even put that down to a typo 🙂
Alex
Hi,
Nice pics Robbo, thanks for posting. Any shots of the Demons cockpit/gunners position?
I have just been told the Nimrod K3661 is expected to be completed sometime later this year and the Fury K5674 will be airborne in 2007.
Alex
Hi,
Thanks for everyone’s input, much appreciated.
Anyone know how the progres of Nimrod K3661 is doing?
Alex
Hi Albert,
Thanks for posting the photo. From photos I have seen 43 Sqn Furys didn’t appear to have the white parts of their markings painted. They were simply black. It is possible that they later had the white parts added, but so far no photos have appeared to confirm this.
Alex
Hi Septic,
I’d appreciate a copy of the article. You wouldn’t know if the Hector fuselage was one that was recovered from Ireland would you.
Alex
Hi Stieglitz,
Thanks for that. Do you have any more details on this aircraft. From what you say it actually has parts from an original Fury. Would that be from the original K1930? I also see that it is in the markings of 43 Squadron.
