Negotiations completed, I shall be there. may pop into Madingley on the way down it all depends on the route I take.

If not 10.30 ish by the Lanc, Kev is the one with the Amber flashing lamp on his Wheelchair.

PS I dont mind driving for a bit but I am a complete amateur.

Bear in mind a Gannet flew in civilian hands on the airshow circuit back in the 1980s

IIRC i was operated by Dowty for noise measurement trials (cant even recall if it had a civvy reg) so not as civilian is it will be now.

and this example was flying right up until being exported, has been kept flying in the USA and is simply coming back to the UK

How lonmg ago was it exported? have the rules changed since it went? Flying in the USA doesnt mean much, the rules are similar but not the same.

I really hope that my concerns are unfounded, I really want to see a Gannet fly again, last time I saw one was XL500 at Yeovilton (I think). I’m just gettng somewhat used to hopes being dashed by the CAA. I’m not getting at the CAA here, they are just one of the facts of life.

As you say though, the new owner wouldnt have spent the dosh without being sure of what he can do with her.

I think I may need to take a happy pill.

Not wishing to be depressing but have the CAA ok’d the Gannet yet?

Q How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
A no one knows its never been tried.

But I digress, I still vote for Q-Queenie. However as long as she is flying I’m really not bothered. How about a late 617 Sqn daylight scheme, I believe it was similar to a desert scheme (carried on some Grand Slam equipped a/c). Not very likely but I can dream.

The fact is it wont get painted up like the Hendon one as Sugar still exists.

Thats entirely my point, dont paint her as Sugar paint her as Queenie, she stands as a monument to those that flew her on her many missions but onbly represents about half of them.

How about one – just one – of the Lancs that didn’t come back from their FIRST raid

Now that is a good idea.

How about S Sugars alter ego OL-Q

Or maybe paint her as a bog standard representative sqn Lanc to represent those that took part is the Bomber Offensive but didnt get a chance to see its end. Just a humble jobbing squadron Lanc, that would be nice.

should not be flown due to historic value

That would also include the remainder of the Shuttleworth Collection as well then?

What I like about HFL is that they are usually quite fussy about who they sell them to.

Without wishing to stir up “that debate” again, how are they going to get around the absence of a dataplate with the CAA (indeed does this matter much)?

As I said i dont want to stip up the debate again but I am genuinely interested in this case.

One from the 17th December 2003 which is on my work laptop, dont have a wallpaper on my home PC as I so rarely leave it without at least one window open. Its also a bit old so has been known to struggle.

I’ll have to be brief but here goes

Reillys place – The Flying Tiger warbird Museum, Hoagland Blvd KISSIMMEE which is very near to the theme parks, an excellent museum which can take all day to do, say hi to the Cats for me.

Fantasy of Flight, right of the Interstate between Tampa and Orlando, well sign posted and an excellent museum. No shopping near by but they are used to wives being abandoned in the (superb) diner on site.

EAA Museum at Lakeland, same venue as Sun n Fun and a nice place, about 20 mins from Fantasy of Flight (westwards) signposted off the interstate

Valiant, quite close to KSC on the east coast, a nice museum but again isolated.

If you need more info PM me and I’ll let you have some links.
