Just bought her a new car, will probably have to spend a bit on a decent watch just so she has something to open on the day.

As I see it, the major problem with the Lightning is the fire risk between the 2 engines and the fact that it is a design flaw that allows the fire to spread. They lost a number of single seaters this way but interestingly no 2 seaters.
It would be nice to see (and cheaper than going to Cape Town, but the Wife does want to go on Safari so you never know)
A nice thought
Lightning – No chance
Bucc – The Jury’s still out.
Interesting to not that with the current CAA rules the humble Gnat would not be allowed to fly (had they not already given approval) because of the number of mishaps that were due to aircraft/design malfunction rather than Pilot error. This is the same reasoning behind not letting the Lightning fly. Not sure about the Brick, if it has the Spar Mods carried out then ?????
Wasnt she in a painting by Van Clump?
I had heard that Madge has sold up and moved away, something about suddenly realising that shooting birds actually kills them.
Anyway I’ll never forvice her for what she did to American Pie, nice **** though 😀
Nowt here either
Have a look Here Its the Official USAF AF1 website.
If they can cover the restoration costs from HLF/Donations and the operating costs from sponsorship (note IF) then why not give the displays for free?. This isnt a profit making exercise it is an attempt to display the aircraft for all to see.
The business plan needs to openly reflect this, if it does then what is the problem.
To clarify one point, Rolls Royce will support the 8 Olympus 202’s that TVOC. In fact the airframe will out live the engines, due to the restrictions that will be put on the 202’s when cleared for flight.
I think I understand what you are getting at:D
A change of heart then as the last I heard it was over my dead body. This is, if true, good news.
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Words fail me!!
Oh I think they’ll get the money. HLF couldnt cope with the negative publicity of not giving it. Especially after they suggested the re-submission.
The blame for non flying will rest squarely on a certain aero engine manufacturer from the West Country……allegedly.
Bad publicity all round if the worst happens.
There were “begging” adverts in the Telegraph and the Mail today stating that they have to match the money thet the HLF are putting in. Maybe these are the articles referred to. In which case its a bit late for them to have realised this.
As for my views, well I really hope I am wrong but without the support of the engine manufacturer (which they dont have so I am told) then it aint going to happen. I have to admit that the wall of silence and veiled threats from the campaign organisers havent helped much either.
I am surprised that they made such a fuss when the original grant was turned down. At the very beginning I can remember being told by someone close to the campaighn that “we will have to do it without the Lottery as they wont support a restoration to fly” this was a good 3 years before the original application. If they new this from the start, why did they go ahead?
If she flies then I will be the happiest man on the planet, but I am not holding my breath.
I am surprised and saddened by your views , after all this is an aviation forum
Does that mean we cannot be realistic then.
Is the Hair on the Tailplane a standard fit 😀 😀
Nice Image
ooooh hark whos being paranoid.
Another case of newer members opinions being unwelcome here?
Dan it was nothing of the sort. There was an accident. In the UK we have the worlds finest Accident Investigation Authority the AAIB. Let them get on with their work and please quit speculating. It does no-one any good. If the end result of the report is that the Pilot made an error, then so be it. (note AAIB reports dont apportion blame, they merely explain what happened).
Without knowing how to fly a Blenheim or how much fuel was on board when the flyby occurred, any comment of the nature you made is speculation. IMHO That is unwelcome from anyone not just you.
FWIW as far as I am concerned you are very welcome here.
I had a chat with thew head of the AAIB a couple of months ago. He was at pains to stress that they dont apportion blame, they find out why.
As I have said before, lets learn the lessons, fix the plane and move on.
