Mark12 has hit the nail on the head. Same reasoning behind no Me262 as well.

Well I have heard (and I can repeat this one) that the manufacturers of the Engine and props are unhappy about supporting the contra roataing props of the Shack. A case not helped by the accident with the SAAF Shack on its way to RIAT where a runaway prop was a major factor.

As I understand it the CAA have already said no. if what I have heard is true I dont blame them either.

    Favourite Air display

    1. Any Old Warden display (perm any one from 4)
    2. Kemble Classic Jets display
    3. Flying Legends (sunday)

    Favourite Display acts
    1. Frank Chapman barnstorming in the Shuttleworth Chipmunk
    2. SAA B747 Duxford
    3. TF-51 and P-47 Flying Legends

Highly commendeds (sounds like a flower show !!) to the Canberra at the Delta Jets Fly-in, the Eurofighter at RIAT and the Matadors at the early Duxford display.

Favourite single moment, seeing the Lanc appearing therough the clouds on a stormy May evening, I was on the A420 and she was on her way to Shrivenham for a flypast. I stopped the car with tears running down my face. Very evocative.

All in all a very good year, a big thanks from me to ALL the display pilots who have performed this year. Heres to 2004
    😀

According to the Eng with her at RIAT whatever scheme she goes into it wont be Royal Navy until she stops flying.

I personally dont care as long as she is flying.

To me an aircraft is, or was, a living thing. Much as I’d stroke a dog, or pat the muzzle of a horse, I tend to pat aircraft. When I put the Colt away after a day’s flying I invariably pat it on the nose before sliding the hangar doors shut. Yes, you are right, sheer stupidity, but also a reflex action.

Couldnt have put it better myself. All aircraft have a soul 🙂

in the current scene its the pilots who are displaying, not the aircraft.

Utter claptrap not to mention libelous (if you had named one of them)

I have spent many hours chatting to airshow pilots over the years, their first concern has always been safety, then the aircraft, then a good display then themselves.

The one that worries me the most was the US F-15 display pilot. Only cared about looking good for the ladies.

Am La.9 flew at Duxford last weekend, where else can you see that? And you think the hayday is over, you’ve never had it so good.

Went to Shuttlworth 5 times this year, didnt see the same show twice.

Its a magical place which knocks Duxford into a cocked hat in just about every aspect except size (Legends excepted that is – that is a class apart).

You’ll need to launch your Teddy at me I’m afraid 😀

That said if they can keep the clutter as low down as possible and to a minimum, i.e. one board per aircraft about A4 size stuck to the floor (kidding but you get my point) I will be happy.

Also I think some thought to giving clear photographic views of the aircraft where possible.

A bit vague? How about doing a 3d layout on the net for comment, if the Architects can do it for the building, why not its content.

    Dream off…..:)

ARTHUR: Consult the Book of Armaments!

BROTHER MAYNARD: Armaments, Chapter Two, verses Nine to Twenty-one.

SECOND BROTHER: And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying,

‘O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that with it thou mayest blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.’ And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats and large chu–

    MAYNARD: Skip a bit, Brother.

SECOND BROTHER: And the Lord spake, saying, ‘First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.
Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three.
Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.’
