I assume the weapon is carried on the centerline when a bit more range is needed?
I’d like to see some pictures of IDF’s with various A/G stores such as the AGM-65, and any other weapons besides Mk-82’s and Mk-84’s that I’m not aware of. Seems like those are probably pretty rare.
Thanks for the link by the way..I actually had seen that site not too long ago. Got some good info on it.
You would not see those photos due to some reasons:
1. ROCAF only have one laser guided bomb, Pave way I and rarely shown with aifcrafts. I only saw photos with F-5E printed in a book.
2. Other than those you already listed, no other A/G weapons really declared IOC with IDF. Also, ROCAF really relies on F-16 to do A/G missions.
Something a little bit off topics. If anyone of you came across China’s forums or articles, they use facts and misleading information to describe IDF. To the engine, they always emphasis it’s for civil, not military. They all made mistake on the radar which developed from and made all kind of funny judgment based on this wrong idea. They even said IDF was crashed becuase Taiwan had no wind tunnels so the design was flaw. Any excuse you could image, you could find it over there. 😀
Don’t jump for joy just yet because…
I would consider it a half a**ed F-18/F-5 wanna be (or, a better
description would be the F-CK-18) because, in configuration it tries to take after the F-18 while in
punches it’s probably no more than the F-5 Freedom fighter’s range.I mean be serious! The Americans are not going to let these Islanders
have anything better than an F-5 because of fears/concerns that pilots from the Island may deffect, thus
secrets such as F-14’s, 15’s and 18’s would fall on mainlander hands. It’s only simple logics. That plane is pure politic.
.
This is really funny. If anyone read articles or posts on China’s forum, you woulf found out China has F-14’s data from iran, F-15 from Saudi and F-16 from Pakistain. They don’t need to wait for Taiwan to give them any information.
I don’t think you really know what happened. 😉
If you want, I can post the interview with the designer (But it is in chinese, you’ll need a translater)…….
Go ahead to post it if not too much trouble to you. Or just the link. Thx.
I don’t need a translator.
I thought the AGAT seeker, SD-10 issue was resolved. AGAT denied any involvement, janes also pulled away the claim I thinks. There was a long interview with the designer of the SD-10. There was nothing about an AGAT seeker (I’ll look for the interview in my archives…can re-check)
Perhaps I missed some issues. I haven’t found AWST back out from their stories which they had Russian side claimed this co-development. Perhaps you have more info?
surely you have heard about janes quitely pulling the seeker story after everyone allegidly involved denied the claim, after serveral years of denals from the chinese side i might add.
Everyone denied? You probably haven’t read some articles included information from Russian said the co-development of SD-10/PL-12. The same things have been reported couple years last and this year.
On the contrary actually. The US gave the Saigon goverment F-5A/B, F-5C and F-5E. Will find a photo if needed.
Some of the F-5A/B actually were from the inventory of ROCAF. US Government needed those aircrafts in short period of time, so it’s kind like exchange: US gave some other aircrafts to ROCAF and then took those F-5A/B to Vietnam.
