How about the twin factors of….
1 affordability, how rich is my country?
2 Political alignment, if my country happens to be a crazy revolutionary islamist nation, what are my chances of getting the latest aircraft from western nations?
hello beautiful.
1 and 2. You decide! you decide what kind of country and situation you’re in!
you just have to follow the aircraft rule. (anything that actually entered in service by 1989. must be an actual operational plane. no prototypes and experimental ac)
thanks for the PDF document on the F-15. Read through the first half and skimmed the rest. but it is pretty much as you summarized.
F/A-18.. good combat record, safety.. its only limitations imho, is the sweep of its wing (understandable due to carrier operations) but would have preferred a deeper sweep.
yep I Agree with our tasty Fresh Burger Whopper
its really all about picking which export is the lesser evil for you
US – tight controls over spares/upgrades/stock
French – more flexible but will charge you twice as much as the Americans. Unless your enemy has more money
Swedes/Germans – you must follow their human rights philosophies or no spares
Russians – no spares to give, no cares to give
Chinese – spares made in China
A Swedish aviation expert compares the F-35 and Gripen E:

(Use Google translate or another automatic translator if your Swedish is rusty )
yup. link is unreadable.
im glad a lot of guys caught a few inappropriate aircraft and understood the time frame
1980s F-16 were a bit more limited, no F-15E yet (on that subject how well suited were the earlier eagles towards A2G?)
Also yes, its 1989 and downwards.. 60s and 70s aircraft are still valid, and perhaps a better choice because they were more mature at this stage.
M4K never entered service. doesn’t count.
F-14 was exported.. in the 70s.
If they ever do seriously consider the F-35.. it should really be the B. it’s the only viable mig-29 replacement to take off from their baby carriers.
no fire
but yes, rushed into service
j-20 stronk!
Hi Kovy,
have you done any new awesome photoshops lately?
Izumo information
Flight deck is 243m
allowing for 5 simultaneous helicopter operations
Elevators
1 – 14m x 15m
2 – 20m x 13m
Max speed 30kts
Hangar
space for 14 helicopters
area is twice that of Hyuga class
via royal institute of naval architect
hangar space sounds about similar to the Gorshkov (pre conversion)
its like every month, we hear new stories of customers being frustrated with their NH-90 purchase.
looks like Sweden will have to pull the super pumas they retired early, back into service!
and to the top comment, I agree, the germans (if not collaborating) make nice things.
hello sexy people.
there do exist renders of both with a flight deck and a ski jump
the flight deck one seems improbable though
