KGB
I believe India dropped its requirement for a 2-seater Su-57
yeah and why would Switzerland need the Rafale’s capabilities?
you could also argue that the Hornet itself wasn’t really needed.
its also wrong to see the Gripen as the next F-5, and the Rafale as the next Hornet.
The Gripen has far more range.. both flying and radar. It could easily do what the Hornet did.
Rafale is obviously even more so, but does such a small country that has a neutral foreign policy need such offensive capabilities? probably not.
they should learn the follies of Austria’s typhoons.
^ I was referring to the color scheme not the aircraft.
anyways back to the J-10 anniversary.
I did a search and found some threads containing posts before the J-10 was unveiled and shortly after. Its interesting to see what people thought back then
some highlights:
they thought it might have tvc
stealthy fueselage
would be part of a hi-lo duo in Pakistan
some other stuff were correct like hard points

https://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?2589-Does-the-J10-have-stealth-features
one of the posters who seems to be considered an expert, was way off with their measurements
It looks to me that approximately the J10 should be around the 7,100 to 7,500kg class, and ain’t going to weigh more than 8,400kg.
ended up being 8800
but he was correct on length of being 50 feet
^ Pakistan loves its Cobras but generally has a policy to field alternatives to US systems due to political problems.
Thats why they got the Chinese Z-10s, but a lot of talk on Def Pak and Pak Def, indicate that the Pakistani army were having a lot of problems and disappointment with them.
hence why they are looking at Turkish helicopters
to be fair, before the real j-10 was leaked
the internet was flooded with these images coming out of Chinese posters

then the same continued with the J-10
looks like something the USAF would use.. in the 1990s.
I wonder if that ends UK involvement? what does that Turkish guy have to say? lol.
yeah LM is likely. but I feel it might be more towards an F-35 variant..
but who knows, in the past some other foreign countries have worked with US companies on losing or unused designs.
Spain and Principe de asturias comes to mind.
Here’s hoping they look at Northrop for the YF-23 or Boink for the X-32. I do recall one of their F-3 concepts, it was 23DMU or 24DMU, that looked like a smaller YF-23
Why Tata and not HAL?
how do we say Blackhawk in Chinese?
is it me or does it seem more is being done to integrate a greater variety of weapons to the JF-17 than the J-10 series?
Isn’t obvious..? It’s 2010 and it’s Su-30 MKI and Mirage 2000..
well the rules did say 2010 to 2040.
not sure if the M2K will still be useful in the 2030s
wow so much love for the Tejas.
2010-2025: SU-30MKI and Mirage 2000
2025-beyond: AMCA and F-35
also F-35 for the navy too
reasons:
China will become more and more of a security challenge for India, and quite frankly, I don’t see them being able to take China alone in the long term.
They will need alliances. I like and enjoyed the Russia-Indian alliance but in the future, Russia will keep drifting further into Chinas orbit.
so it will need some deeper military alliances with the US
I also think there is a possibility FGFA will fall through. India is going to keep nitpicking and Russians will get sick and tired of India.
F-35s can satisfy at least the A2G aspect of the 5th gen, and A2A until the Indians can make AMCA a better A2A platform than the 35.
what could have been (or probably couldn’t at all)

You’re welcome Tony!
As for Siddar’s remarks,
he is probably referring to US blocking SCALP sale to Egypt. it was mentioned in the news thread.
I was surprised since I thought it was an entirely European missile but I guess it has some US components.
The question now is, will Russia sell them the Russian equivalent for use on their MiG-35s
