    Here here

    Hi Andy,

I totally agree – our costs have risen significantly – even since the last one. The hall alone is costing an additional £150 – quite a rise in 6 months. Advertising has also gone up along with postage costs for tickets & forms etc. We have only increased stall prices once in 12 years & that was by £3 around 4 years ago. The price for the public has remained static for 12 years.

As you say, these jumbles are not quick to organise & there is a lot of effort going into them. Without support from both dealers & buyers they WILL disappear & it will happen VERY soon. So, dealers & buyers alike – Please support Andy’s event at Brooklands, the new “Shoreham” when it re-appears & the next Whitwick of course. It could well be your last chance…….

    Cheers
    David

    The end is nigh…..

Yes, the world ends next week so unless you restart Shoreham quickly then Whitwick was indeed the last of the year! Actually the government are banning aeromarts along with increasing the budget cuts for the RAF.:diablo: OK, I based the “ad” on last Novembers & didn’t edit it very carefully:(

For the record, attendance was down (dealers & punters) but those there seemed happy – on the whole! As of next year we are going to do just one a year – date to be announced shortly.

Aeromarts – use ’em or lose ’em. I suspect Andy will agree with me on this?

    Final Reminder…….WHITWICK IS TOMMORROW…..

    Whitwick Goes On…..

Sorry to hear that Shoreham is not going ahead. I’ve only missed one event in the last 15 years or so…… Fingers crossed that you can source another venue asap.
In the meantime I am pleased to say that the Whitwick Aeromart will still be running this year & the projected (although as yet unconfirmed) date is Saturday April 21st. We would of course be very pleased to see anyone suffering withdrawl symptoms from the lacking Shoreham – both dealers & buyers alike 😉 . Please email me for details….. Interesting….

    Hi,

As co-organiser of this event I have to say I was a tad disappointed at the turn-out (again…) We had a reasonable number of dealers, although well below our maximum turn-outs.

I thought the variety of kit & equipment etc was good & people seemed to be having a good time? On a personal note as a dealer I had a very good day selling which would suggest that the folks who do attend are “serious” buyers & actually spend money rather than sightseers. I found it was a moderately good day for buying.

We haven’t had chance to review the figures yet but assuming we didn’t make a catastrophic loss there will be more events as usual next year!

Thanks to all who attended as dealers or buyers – your support is genuinely appreciated.

    Final Reminder…….WHITWICK IS TOMMORROW…..

    Dear All,

At the risk of getting very boring can I just remind you that the last Aerojumble/Aeromart/Aviation Collectors fair of the year is TOMORROW, Sat. 11th Nov. @ Hermitge Leisure Centre, Silver Street, Whitwick, 10am – 2pm or early entry from 8.45am.

Give us your support – don’t let the net (& eBay in particular kill off “face to face” trading……

    Your Aeromart needs you! 🙂

Lee Enfields a very strong possibilit @ Whitwick

Do the militaria stalls do any de-activated weapons? Always fancied a nice Lee Enfield no 4…

    Hi,
I’ve spoken to one of the dealers & he has a very nice, well priced example of a Lee Enfield No.4. I’ve asked hime to take it along on Saturday. There is also another dealer who normally has a few deacs available so you should be able to fill your gap….

    books – yes…..

Yes, there are at least a couple of book dealers signed up for the show – a regular plus a new one for us. In addition I think you will find that quite a few of the dealers have a few books & paperwork available. I will certainly be taking a few surplus volumes & a bin of wartime leaflets, documents, the odd pilots notes etc……

PS You never know – they may sell garlic bread at the cafe
PPS All you punters – Why not bring the rest of the family & they can have a swim whilst you browse & spend up. That way you have a chauffer to take you home if you have sampled the local brew.

    USAAF gear

Good news for collectors of AAF flight gear & 1940s clothing – Jim Clarey has booked up for a pitch. He was going to be working that day but has managed to re-arrange this to attend……

Anyone concerned with the potential to “catch” some hideous airborne northern disease, lack of daylight or friendliness of the locals is advised to come armed with a bell, garlic, antisceptic, torch & simple English phrase book at the very least….

    Rumbled

    Dear Sagindragin,

Ok you’ve rumbled me – I have no idea which pits the locals will be frequenting as the only part of Whitwick I know is the Hermitage Leisure Centre & I actually live in Derbyshire. When I arrive early to set the tables up for the show its very dark & all the locals I see (very few at that time of the day) look like they are on the way back or to the pits…..

I’m rambling. Its worth a visit & as someone else pointed out – prices can often be substantially cheaper than on the net.
Bookings increased by a few more late bookings today! No doubt more to come.
    Cheers

    Ready for take-off

    Hi Andy,

Bookings are coming on nicely thanks & are still likely to increase over the next few days (why do people book so late……. ). Interestingly we also have a few new dealers. It is always good to get “new blood” into the show as you never know what gems they may bring with them.
To all you collectors out there remember this is basically your last chance to get an aerojumble “fix” until Andy’s bash next March. I am sure Andy would agree with me that we need your support to continue these events – if you all just sit at your computer to buy & sell eventually the aerojumbles will die. Come & see what there is, talk to the seller in person, see exactly what you are buying & have a haggle over the price. A safer buy than on eBay? I think so…..

    See you there!
    Cheers

    Hi Andy,
I’d recommend you have some antisceptic with you & perhaps some garlic that might ward off the black death that is still rampant in these parts. Also, whilst the onsight catering is good you would have to bring your own black pudding.

Had a good day at Shoreham on Saturday – even with reduced numbers my takings were good. I’d have liked to have bought more but you can’t win them all. Keep us posted as to venue changes….
    Cheers
