I wonder why
Fantastic work, how nice to see that colour after all those years. Looking forward in seeing more of this restoration.
Well done in these trying times.
Thank you for posting , is this shark in new paint or another ?
I would think there will be a lot of activity from Duxford this coming week.
A wonderful update Martin, I never knew about the previous two pieces of artwork applied and how nice to see the recreations on the panels.
I would love to see PA474 in S Sugar colours one day.
Thank you for a great informative update.
Update March 200.
Good morning one and all, thank you for all the kind messages texts emails received regarding closure of the ‘Thameside Aviation Collection’ we are ongoing with removing artifacts and cataloging everything as removed and packed, it’s still going to be a few months work yet. Contrary to rumours we are not selling the collection off all the historic item are going into storage for the foreseeable future and the non display items some are being kept but most disposed of but again mostly at a later date. The Few items loaned to is will be returned to the original owners, not really many but already parts have been returned.
As stated before we hoped to open in 2020 for the Battle of Britain 80th anniversary and at the end of 2020 we had all ready decided to close as we are all to old now oldest being 86, 67, 63 i think due to Covid19 it would of been impossible to open this year anyway
I will give further update soon .
Best wishes
Colin
So many things that I could not choose one thing, but I will keep thinking.
Replied Jamie.
Thank you for your kind words.
Attended a couple of airshows at Bruntingthorpe, we took the Harvard up both times must of been 1993 94 time so it was just getting going up there with the big jets. Such a shame with now the public not being able to have access to the museum, it’s going to happen more and more.
Good luck to all up there.
A two seat Spitfire up today, a little surprised due to the strength of the wind, it came over the Thames Tilbury heading north then turned popped back over the river south did a couple of aeros back towards Biggin Hill
AA you are correct, it was a bit of a tongue in cheek as the weather for casters keep saying this storm is a one in ten years event.
That Hangar has taken a bit of flak over the years !
This Hangar appears to get wind damage each time we have the 1 in 10 year winds, hopefully that’s it
Hi Steve I remember standing in Robs Lamploughs Hangar back in the 1980s watching Miss Helen coming together, it was just the fuselage with wing siting along the the north wall of the Hangar waiting to be fitted.
Miss Helens restoration really leptospirosis forward as they tried to get it finished to use in The Empire of The Sun.
Those were the days
Thank you for the first update from Duxford 2020 Skeeler
Thank you Martin great to hear what your father did in saving S .
Yes he has a fair bit of Whitley, this is safe and sound and can be moved at a later date, I believe he is otherwise engaged at the moment.
