Two destination sites are under consideration at the moment and one is not available. Now before a mad scramble to guess where and what I do seem to recall that Lincolnshire County Council wanted to purchase Scampton to develop it into a sort of Northern Duxford type set up but that is not available yet. Next year I believe when the reds move to Waddo it will be available. Where better than another ex Vulcan base than Scampton.

Have I hit the nail on the head or have I added yet another venue for consideration ?

    Thanks Guys

I obviously need new specs ? XD163 and 183 certainly did serve with 275 squadron, thanks  Paul and to Plough for the additional info. when 275 Sqdn were stood down 228 Sqdn assumed their duties so its fair to assume the aircraft were just transferred over

Mmm I initially thought of the Portuguese Air Force but they were neutral in WW2 and I am not sure whether the current insignia was the same in WW2. I think an individual unit insignia is nearer the mark. Google images has a good selection but nothing specific to this particular aircraft. I am sure someone in this community with a superior knowledge of all things Luftwaffe will have the answer

Doubtful it was Bulgarian, he was operating over the North Sea/Dutch coast, this could have been a personal insignia such as a Wing Leader as suggested.

P/O  Lee did state that from a distance it looked similar to the RAF roundel which just confuses the issue even more.

AB files show the Wellington crash landing on 12/9/1941 at Middleton on the Wolds, Yorkshire 104 sqdn

Blenheim is a 13 Sqdn aircraft and shown as Struck off Charge on 24/02/1943. No 13 Sqn were based at the time at Oulmene in Algeria

Avro 504k H2277 was taken on charge in November 1918 so the photograph will be post 1918,

Best I can do to help !

What about Scampton, soon to be vacated by the Reds, decent roads and Lincoln  a few miles down the road with a railway network. The United Kingdom doesn’t suddenly drop into the ocean once you have reached the Midlands you know. Waddo could do it but not now with the Drones and whatnot why not Scampton ?

I dont suppose $99UD dollars is a lot more than we pay on a yearly basis, Mr Google says it equals £73.  12 copies at the current price of £5.49 is £66 give or take a penny or two so not that much dearer. Lets face it the Yanks seem to have more money to play with then we poor UK citizens

I too was shocked when I saw the new format, it just doesn’t work. I realise they have to cater foe readers al over the globe and report news from afar but there is an active preservation movement in the UK that deserves more in depth reporting. The preservation movement started way back in the 60s, why not go back to those days with some photos and reports, lets face it that’s how it all began and that’s how Flypast came onto the bookshelves.

On another point despite the Spitfire being the most iconic aeroplane  ever there does seem to be an idea that photo shots and stories  month after month surrounding the many Spitfire rebuilds is what we we want. The various stories and histories are great but do we have to open the magazine each month and see yet another Spitfire taking to the air with air to air shots. Surely a one of magazine devoted to that subject would be more appealing to those with that particular interest?
