I promised I would give the answer in a weeks time but considering I got 100% of the same answer, it is my duty to announce it.

Yes indeed it is coming towards you and it revealed not only by the undercarriage light. Look at the wings as well, you can notice it has deployed all her flaps which means she is going for landing.

I had trouble persuading those who said that it was aiming towards the sun that it was wrong. Even if i showed them the undercarriage lights still they didnt believe me.

    Well done though people

It is nice to have dreams and make such plans in the future. While I was at your age, as part of our spare time, and only for hobby me and a friend developed this airline called CNP Airways that we established it primarily in LGW then moving to LHR and basically we copied the BA timetable, because at the time BA wasmaking money and we thought that it would be a nice idea!!! While growing older and after joining the university to study Air Transport, I realised that the airline didnt have a chance, because of various factors like the many a/c types that we said we would operate. So I would like to offer you some some primarily friendly advices regarding the Living la “USVIVA” Loca so that you get closer to the reality of establishing an airline company.

In 10 years time you have to stop thinking the B727’s because despite the fact they will be dead cheap and the Mojave desert and the Victorville desert has LOADS of them NOW, in 10 years time they will all become tin cans for Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola. Also, even if you get a couple of B727’s then consider the HUGE maintenance cost that you will have to pay per year and the possibilities of break-downs (i.e. the reliability).

Second, a mixture of Boeing, Airbus, and Bombardiers (and B727), it means u will have 4 different a/c type (including B727), which means that 4 different pool of pilots, each for every a/c type. This further increase your operation costs because you will need to have four different operations and you may not be able to transfer a pilot flying an Airbus on Monday to fly a Boeing on Thursday as current regulations prohibit a captain to have a/c license for more than one aircraft (unless of course u have an All Airbus fleet (A320 and above) that u can play a bit with the system, but still consider the training costs). Therefore, it would be ideal either Airbus with Bombardier OR Boeing with Bombardier. (I assume talking Airbus and Boeing u mean B737NG and A320 family).

Third, think ur competitors, u didnt determine your base (which is important and the Number 1 element while establishing an airline) but I assume in 10 years you will have as competitors Southwest, JetBlue, and possibly Continental or Delta as I think they will be the only two airlines they will survive in 10 yrs time. For each route you claim you will fly, i.e. New York-Washigton always list ur competitors, their prices and frequencies and how strong they are. Always consider your market in terms of city pairs, e.g. New York – Los Angeles (market A) and New York – Washington (Market B) as you will discover as you grow, that both are independent markets with different dynamics.

In the event your future airline survives and you aim to expand to Europe and US you must considering the bilateral agreements placed by the US and the countries or blocks u r aiming to fly to. In the event you are not aware, bilateral agreement is the agreement signed between two countries that determine which airlines are allowed to fly (from both countries), where they are allowed to fly to/from, up to how many seats they are allowed to offer per week, and what will be the price range they are allowed to charge to the potential passengers. These bilateral agreements they were created after the member states failed to determine a GLOBAL OPEN SKY AGREEMENT in the Chicago Convention of 1944. Today, these bilateral agreements have began to relax as we see many open sky policies signed by different countries with prime example the Third Package adopted by EU member states. Despite the fact they are getting weaker and in 10 years time the bilaterals may not exist, it may still an element to consider so that they dont create a headache.

Travelling to Europe in 10 years time may not be a problem since I read in the news (and please people correct me if im wrong) that EU commission has started negotiations for an open Sky agreement between EU and USA.

I believe as a starter these are the primarily advices that I could offer you to get closer to reality. There are of course other elements, like to forecast your market, determine the aircraft to your routes that WILL go there and WILL make a profit out of it, determine your product (e.g. full frill or low cost, how many classes will the cabin have and what features will each have?), and find your suppliers, i.e. ground handlers, catererers, etc.

I hope I didnt get carried away and if you are reading this paragraph it means you didnt get bored. Also I hope that I provided some information to the rest of the people. EAL it is nice to make dreams, and who doesnt make dreams, but gradually it is also nice to begin descending to the real world and make a nice approach with a good landing. Failure to do so, you will discover that a “hard landing” is inevitable :):):)

    Martin EGTK..

I have to disagree to your comment about the B7E7 ever making it to the skies.

As I have stated previously some time ago, forecasts of the traffic made by both Airbus and by Boeing revealed that there will be a demand for a 240 seater aircraft, (i.e. A300Family or B767-200 and 300). All these models are old and gradually phasing out of production. So, Boeing if they manage to develop the B7E7, and comes to the standards they are promising, then they may get the niche in the market.

On the other hand, Airbus is currently busy and “blind” with the A380, and has no plans for the moment to begin replacing the A300 family, as a result it may give them an advantage to Boeing.

As far as Boeing 747 newer versions, it is interesting to see whether the potential of developing newer versions of the aircraft are been reduced. Some believe that a Boeing 747 is a Boeing 747 and fewer investment will be required to develop a new derivative of the aircraft.

However, consider the A340-200/300 and the A340-500/600. They are all A340, however the design and aerodynamics of the A340-500/600 is so much different than the other A340’s and a deal time of effort and investment was made to develop the newer A340’s. I believe the same problem will be faced by Boeing in an attempt to develop further the B747-400…(unless of course they have reasons to believe that the market will not sustain a 555 seater but a relatively lower density i.e. 522 seater, which really considering the economics, the additioal 33 seats will be an extra revenue potential for the airline and NOT an additional cost.

The A380 is not as ugly as people claim it is. I actually find it beautiful. originally it will host 555 people on a three class configuration as many people stated.

It is definetely going to be heavier than the B744 and the airports that more likely that bird will fly to (e.g. LHR, HKG, CDG, LAX, JFK, Sydney, Frankfurt, Dubai, etc) have already began testing and strengthening of the tarmac to withstand of that giant. Also ICAO recently developed a new Aerodrome Reference code for the runways. As stated in Annex 14 of ICAO, where the as “F” which means that the runways of the airports already stated must increase in width to allow aeroplanes with wingspan between 65m up to but not including 80m. This is needed because as you understand all the engines of the A380 must be under tarmac to minimise the possibility of engine damage from inrush of dust and any other debris from the ground.

A380 will have three decks, where the third deck will be based in its belly. However, due to health and safety regulations, Airbus is not allowed to place any seats on its belly, therefore the available will be used either as gym, or shops or restaurant or cinema, depending what the customer wishes. I am really anxious to see what Virgin Atlantic and Singapore will put at the belly of this aircraft.

Evacuating the aircraft in the event of forced landing will take place on all available exits, both first and second floor. Airbus developed a mock-up of the A380 and trials are made occasionaly to determine the fastest way of evacuating 555 people in the event of forced landing. I ve seen the mock-up and trust me it huge and the height is unbeliavable.

The airlines that ordered this bird so far are:

    • Emirates 20 A380 and 2 A380F (freighter).
    • Lufthansa 15 A380.
    • Qantas 12 A380.
    • Air France 10 A380.
    • Singapore Airlines 10 A380.
    • ILFC (International Leasing Finance Company) 5 A380 and 5 A380F.
    • FedEx 10 A380.
    • Virgin Atlantic Airways 6 A380.
    • Qatar Airways 2 A380.

    ……… and more will come….

Its a bird im looking forward to see flying.. and a gamble for Airbus. If they get it right they won the lottery. They are claiming that they will repeat the Jumbo phenomenon of the late sixties where everybody was buying a Jumbo because it was considered as a must…. well times changed since then…, I wish them all the best.

I hope I managed to provide with some information regarding the bird. Airbus has released an Airport planning manual for the Bird! 🙂 If anybody wishes to download it is in the airbus website.

    a330….

these are fantastic pictures mate, congratulations. I like the A330 Thomas Cook picture, I dont know, but the A330 is perhaps the best looking aircraft.

Also the black A320 VolareWeb.com.. emmm, I believe they could have used much better colours on that poor A320. It looks like a crow. US AIRWAYS has black in its livery but I believe it suits on the aircraft.

“that happens….a Saudi B747 almost was brought down by Indian Air Force after it was approaching a IAFB instead of Chennai International Airport!”

well we must never forget the incident where a US Airline landed at Brussels because they thought it was Amsterdam despite the repeated warnings of the ATC!!!!!!!!

Ok I saw below that somebody posted the picture already… but this picture I m sure u havent seen.. its a fokker 100 in the airline livery of the proposed airline that we based our business plan.

Our logo shows a clear Barcelonan summer night with a full moon and stars. Our proposal was to establsh a regional airline at Barcelona flying primarily to Leipzig and gradually expanding our network to other destinations like marseille, gottenberg, prague, nantes, lanzarote etc.

I understand that many people (among myself) would like to see this bird keep flying for many years to come. Indeed, she is a unique bird, one of her kind. An art of what human can accomplish.

I may gave the impression that I am against the pursuit of Branson’s decision and pursuit to get a couple of Concordes and retain them flying for some time. In fact, I have nothing against such decision provided that it is an honest one and feasible in economic terms (i.e. generate sufficient yield to create a profit p bare in mind the economic recession and the bad situation the airline industry is currently facing); and it is not another ‘bluff’ to hit the nerves of their eternal ‘enemy’ British Airways.

However, my concern is that Concorde proved in July 2000 she is vulnerable perhaps more vulnerable than compatible aircrafts. Also She is getting older, with the youngest Concorde being more than 20 years old. I fear the fatigue of sonic travelling has started her even more vulnerable.

Dont you think it will be more appropriate for her to retire in glory (as she will retire in October) or retire in disgrace from a possible second accident?? or end her carreer because she wasnt generating enough money to keep her going?

Finally, concluding, I would like also to express once again my dissappointment for British Airway’s decision to sell pieces of Concorde for action. As I mentioned at the beginning of the reply, she is an art therefore she shouldn’t end as pieces of artifact to rich and famous houses!!!!!!!!!!

    kind Regards

I remember watching the live ITN coverage of the accident, when a witless Mark Austen stated “if an aircraft like this had an engine failure on take off it would be a miracle if it didn’t crash” – thanks Mark – on Performance A catergory aircraft (ie most jets)an engine failure is considered on EVERY take off.

Moondance whos this Mark Austen????? Doesnt he ever heared of ETOPS???? and also doesnt he ever heared that Airbus A300 is licensed for ETOPS activity????
