I’m disappointed to see a politican like Vince Cable – whom I consider to be one of only a few politicans that is honest and fair but most importantly, he talks a lot of sense – being made out as the big ogre or the baddie in a low budget pantomime.

Sorry if I sound rather confrontational here, but weren’t Uni fees paid by the government prior to 2003 (IIRC)? Therefore if you went to university before then you effectively got a free university education.

I wish “my” ( :diablo: ) Vulcan had a busy flight deck, it would mean we’d completed about 2-3years of work 😀

I’ll give my Vulcan as an example for the way I use the terms – i’ll invite visitors to go into the cockpit, then ask them if they would like to climb up the ladder onto the flight deck to sit in the pilot’s seats.

Might be right, might be wrong but its whatever seems to sound right to you.

back when I started college 10yrs ago I got EMA and I just saved it and put it towards my PPL. I believe the rest of my class used theirs on alcohol. I cant recall how many times I heard people say ‘I need my EMA as im off clubbing this weekend’ 😡

I think I can safely say that many of the clubs in Sunderland (and to a lesser extent Newcastle) will be secretly be hoping that the government does a U-turn. An awful lot of their custom on a weekend is students, many of whom pay for their nights out with taxpayers money courtesy of EMA.

Very few people use it for its actual proper purpose 😡

Cutting EMA will kill two birds with one stone. It’ll save us £560million (IIRC) straight away and secondly, I would bet a substantial amount of money that it will reduce the binge drinking problem among 16, 17 & 18 year olds; combined with less under age drunk and disorderly offences.

    😡
