Cutting EMA will kill two birds with one stone. It’ll save us £560million (IIRC) straight away and secondly, I would bet a substantial amount of money that it will reduce the binge drinking problem among 16, 17 & 18 year olds; combined with less under age drunk and disorderly offences.

    😡

Well i’m leaving Sixth Form in June/July time. I’ve decided against going to Uni for the simple reason I don’t fancy any courses. Most of my mates are planning to go but many seem to be doing courses because they think they have to.

I’ve decided to seek employment for a year, reassess my options next year and go from there. Should I choose not to go full stop then chances are, i’ve got 3 years more experience in work without the fees concerning me.

IMO The thing that annoys me about this who thing is that people are slating the coalition for this that and the other. None of them appear to recall that it was the Labour govt. that brought in tutition fees and more specifically the Shadow Chancellor – who now takes great pleasure in having a go at the govt. – bit of a hypocrite from my point of view. Also the reason there has had to be an increase could be down to the fact that the last govt. made sure there was no money left in the economy to maintain the current system.

Now i’m open to corrections on that last paragraph but that is the situation as it appears from my position, even among people my own age the debate is still raging.

Chris Hughton getting sacked as manager of Newcastle United made me swear VERY loudly and I also booted the table loudly which left everyone sitting within 6′ requiring a change of underwear! :diablo:

I am sure you guys with the Vulcan have thought of all tie down options and I am teaching you to suck eggs but there is a product called duckbill anchors that seem to be very good to use where you have an earth base. You just hammer them in ,attach cables of sufficient strength and pull tight, which opens the flukes underground. You then attach your cables to the landing gear and the aircraft is going nowhere.

I can see how they could be useful but one of the problems we have at NEAM is that we have no hard standings left from RAF Usworth. Nissan swallowed the entire aviation side of the airfield, NEAM is located on the North side of the airfield which was the Officer’s mess and accommodation area and included a tennis court. This is now where the Vulcan stands. As i’m sure your aware, tennis courts aren’t designed to take large heavy objects let alone anchor said object firmly to the ground.

That is why we have been planning to put concrete anchors in but a combination of events has meant that we have been unable to begin this task before the onset of winter.

It doesn’t have to be mended to exacting standards. I’m sure if it can be made good based on looks that will more than suffice.
