Although i’m loathed to see the demise of any aircraft, especially a Vulcan, that list of parts we need is ever increasing.

That could well be a good idea in the long run even though I can’t envisage any reasons to move her in the near future *touch wood* :p

The problem is that F.8 canopies are incredibly hard to come by. I’m no Meteor expert so does anyone know if a different mark canopy can interchange with an F.8?

I’ll try and dig out the picture of the damaged canopy.

For your information Mr Marlee, i’ve been up 0710 every morning this week even though sixth forms shut just to dig my step dad’s van out! So don’t give me that!

Apparently the three lengths of georgia pine were beginning to bear weight prior to her being cleared aft of engines.

7″ cleared from ‘319 today, pictures to follow from Saturday. Apparently you can step from the snow piles onto the top of the wing now – shows you how much we’ve had to clear.

3 lengths of georgia pine stuck where her back doors were smashed last year (not that way 😉 ), braced just under the tail.

Thanks for your concern Peter, we’re working as safely as we can in these conditions. Its a calculated risk and everyone going on top accepts that, if we felt it was too dangerous we wouldn’t go up. Even a Vulcan isn’t worth risking peoples neck’s for.

The ironic thing is that the more snow falls and is removed from ‘319, the safer it is for those working – piles of snow just under 3ft high have risen just aft all along the trailing edge which should give a relatively soft landing should anyone take a tumble. Not that anyone has or intends to test it

Cleared her completely yesterday, over a foot deep either side of the tail. Had over an inch in just under 30mins at one point. More coming down as of 1530GMT.

We’re unlikely to get a break in the weather which would allow us to excavate and pour concrete until well into the new year.

We’ve removed a few tons from her back end by taking the ECM pods out. She tipped on 8″ last year. We’ve had about half that amount in under two days up here mind.

Brushes and planks of wood at the ready 😉

Spare a thought for a poor 17year old lad who was quoted £5,750 insurance on a 1.0L VW Polo, with 0-60mph in 18.2secs, when your hitting your 112mphs 😡 🙁
