Spare a thought for a poor 17year old lad who was quoted £5,750 insurance on a 1.0L VW Polo, with 0-60mph in 18.2secs, when your hitting your 112mphs 😡 🙁

In my opinion (which is the whole point of a public debating forum) I stick by my statement, which was not critical but rather more aimed towards voicing an opinion. You seem a little touchy?… Sorry Alex, but the suggestion of getting an engine running by your collegue sounded as if there was very little common sence or knowledge… Since you have now filed us in a bit more on a wider plan, then sure, an engine could be ground run in a specially designed (and VERY heavy) ground rig.

Seems to me that conclusions are being drawn far too quickly. Comments which seem to be criticisms appear to be forthcoming in the same manner.

We’re seriously considering it! No.2 has delivery hours only as it was fitted for the flight to Usworth.

Not sure about the state of the airbrake system to be honest. Its only a chain system so it wouldn’t be too difficult creating an manual system. Bomb bay hydros need sorting out as we have a leak unless we can bypass repressurising the system (i’m no expert).

We know no.3 is seized solid. I’d like to get the two inboards out ideally, reason being no.2 has very few hours on it and 3 could be a display item. 2 could be brought up to ground running spec but not within XL319 herself.

Can I make this clear that XL319’s engines will NOT be getting run up without major work!
For a start we no longer have the titanium shielding so that would have to be addressed. Secondly the majority of the fuel management system was donated to XH558.

Hopefully the AAPP and wiring could be sorted to get the lights functioning in the nearish future after she’s been painted. AAPP needs a complete overhaul or servicing as far as i’m aware, i’ve been trying to find out what the plan is for a while.

We’ve got an awful lot of work on in the next few months at NEAM (the whole site in general) but the weekend team have never been workshy (despite the ironic t-shirt design).

In all honesty i’m not a fan of these “Not a clever idea IMHO” comments with all due respect, we’ve enough common sense and knowledge of XL319 to know when doing something could cause injury and/or damage.

oh sorry i forgot…… your all the elite of the interwebz?

i believe in my country what our forefather fought hard for. if you want to let that slide then your welcome to it.

code of conduct? shove it seriously. i thought we was on a freedom of speach tip?

I think you may have misinterpreted some of the posts. I can’t identify anyone who hasn’t condemned these people and I highly doubt that any UK citizen would be content to watch our hard fought freedoms slide, which brings us back to these people’s right to this protest.

    Cheers Mike!

Glad we got the doors down so you could compare the set up of your parts with 319’s! :p

We do seem to be having a tool crisis at the moment but that should be set right soon. (Hopefully) haha

Its been good having you on site, those panels had been a major thorn in our side as you well know!

I’m looking through the APs for the engine dropping now lol

Any chance of those images on photobucket please?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section as I’m not sure of classification. Saw a Boeing 707 flying over Hebburn and Jarrow, South Tyneside on the usual flight path to Runway 25 at NCL, (second hand info as it flew directly overhead and couldn’t tell if it was a 747 or a 707/E3).

Any ideas on who’s it was? (Isreal has been mentioned?)

I was at the airshow BBQ a few years back when it was fogged off at Seaburn but glorious sunshine up at the airport. That was held in that building and it was majestic! Sorry to see it come to a sudden demise! 🙁

Funnily enough I was doing my weeks work experience at the Fire Station :diablo: when a bloke from T&W Museums came to take some photos of the Belman, before it met its end. So my memory of the hanger is sitting in Rescue 7 outside on a very foggy day, while this photographer seemed to take a lifetime to photograph every nook and cranny of it.

Me and the fire-fighter spent the time contemplating what i’d have to do if the Airfield Crash Alarm went off while we were sitting there, he’d have to respond of course and had his gear in the back with the radios tuned in

Loved every minute of the week 😀 especially the Monday when they got a shout for a Tornado struck by lightning – not that I wanted an accident mind!

Anyway back to the present :p
