I was coming over Hartsop on the way to Ullswater on friday and saw first a Harrier, then a Tucano. As already mentioned, I know that several JP’s are based within 20 odd minutes flight time.

With all due respect santiagorivas, it would appear to me that you are on the back foot in this discussion. This aside, I don’t believe that by questioning people’s intelligence, patronising and generally trying to them feel inferior is a way to win you any respect on this forum. If you are unable to partake without resorting to being disrespectful, you are on the wrong forum.

    Regards,

Who tells you that Argentina didn’t claimed the islands after the US attack. In fact, when the British ships arrived to the islands, there was an Argentine governor on them. The first Argentine protest against British invasion was also in 1833, as soon as Buenos Aires knew that the Argentine garrison was invaded. Please excuse me, but read more history before quoting.

As I have already stated, I was under the impression. I have been corrected and I have no qualms with that.

Please excuse me, but read more history before quoting.

Sorry, I didn’t realise that to partake in this debate you had to have encyclopedic knowledge on the subject. So as someone with an interest but limited knowledge, i’m not welcome?

I say that since Chavez is being cheeky and disrespectful, why dont we get Prince Phillip to be downright insulting – i’m sure he would jump at the chance to put him in his place:diablo:

Later, in 1833 the British invaded the islands.

I was under the impression that at the time we took control of the Falklands in 1833, they were free from any government. The US Navy having intervened two years prior to our re-establishment of control. So really the islands were up for grabs, so to speak. As I understand it, Argentina had two years in which it could have reclaimed the islands but failed to do so.

Back to the present day, i’m quite looking forward to hearing the argument that Argentina is planning to deliver to the UN next week. I wonder if it will differ much from all the ones they’ve put forward in the past.

Thanks to that link we also have confirmation that the EF Typhoons of No.1435 Flight are Air to Air equipped. With that and the fact that more aircraft could, theoretically be in the South Atlantic within two days; I doubt that Argentina will try anything more than complaining to the UN.

Would anyone be able to post pics of an EE Canberra TT18 pilots instrument panel or tell me if its identical to another mark (and which one).

Well the aircraft in the gun-camera footage clearly wasn?t an Me 410 (from the comfort and safety of my armchair ).

As you say, a tragic incident, but blue-on-blue was probably more common than we think during WW2.

Me410 silhouettes, the Mosquito’s Merlins are much sleeker. Different wing profile as well I think. Mosquito’s fin was bigger

I recall watching from a Nimrod over the Med , Yaks doing landings on a Kiev class carrier and being very impressed. Sadly my pics are way fuzzy due to being shot from a tiny window, the crew grabbed all the best locations and collected some impressive int pics of the operations while we flew orbits. We caught them unawares by making a low level approach to their location with no radar in use.

that would make a few comrades jumpski XD
