Janes spinning stuff…
First of all there’s only 1 ship launching. the KRI Celurit. and it’s not misfire but rather mis coordination. Our president count down way too early.. 5 minutes before the ship commander order launch. and well everyone onboard listen to ship commander.
Whether it’s misscoordination or something more remain to be seen, since the missiles launch after few minutes and KRI Clurit already increased the speed (indicating they are actually aborting the launch). The eyes witness report (mostly frm reporters there)..shown that even the Naval Brass are surprises when the missiles launch (indicating again they’ve been reported that the missiles launch abborted). The missiles then miss the target by wide margin, also indicating that the on board radar and sensors ‘probable’ not being cue to the missiles, which also indicating KRI Clurit already on abortive launch environment.
All this should raise question for further viability of C-705 within Indonesian Navy combat procedures and environment.
Not all Chinese missiles have problem with Indonesian Navy. C-802 already even integrated and launch succesfully with locally made CMS from LEN (reported using Thales Netherland Technology). Showing that more viable and mature missiles than C-705, able to be integrated with Western Based System (rather than C-705, which still using Chinese sensors and CMS).
Indonesia needs to make smarter arms acquisition plans instead of buying from everyone, especially low quality vendors
The C-705 is being bought only for small batches..the exercise is to test the capability and viability of C-705. This misiles is bought on potential under lincense manufacturing in Indonesia. The result of the test will be examined to determined further contracts for C-705.
Indonesia looking not only buy, but potentially manufactured them domestically. Frm what I gather the other candidate is SAAB RBS-15..but will see..
Two Chinese C-705 missiles failed on firing test during Indonesian Navy exercise. Not good conditions for further procurement contracts.
If Jaguar M being choose..will it be also more flexible to be modified later on for A to A thus also replace Crusaders ?
Anyway seems the matter of overall cost on developing Jaguar vs Super Ettandard is the main and only decisive reasoning.
Wandering though..if the Brits did not cancelled CVA-01..will RFAA also going to used Jaguar M as Buckeneer replacement ?
No, I think tanggo is right. It’s Mig 19 and not 17..look at exhaust..it’s charateristics of Mig 19, also the tip of wing.
Edit: Think about what in Iraq inventory..perhaps those are Chinese F6..
By the time Scotland manage to arrange second independence referendum..the EU begin to collapse..the contagious effect of Brexit circulated in Benelux..then Scandinavian..put pressure on French to leave..until it left Lonely German to saddle with Southern Europe and Eastern Europe..thus have no choice to disband EU..
Then Scotland have no choice to stay with UK..
What many in market miss to predict the sentiment that moved Brexit..Nationalism..Imigration..and the feelin that shared by many in more ‘richer’ western and northern europe..that they being penalised economically to subsidies ‘poorer’ southern and eastern europe..
It’s not justifiable..debatable..but strong sentiment nonetheless..

Seems ROK choose Thales technology to developed KFX Aesa Radar..Sorry to put it in this thread..seems the KFX thread is no more.
Gripen in Thailand is to replace their F-5, The current add plan of 4 aircraft just to make the Gripen sq become full 16 frm current 12..
Thailand got 3 sq of F-16, so far only one sq being upgraded (MLU/blk 52 avionics standard). It’s interim solution to keep their F-16 operational to 2020+. By then they will find something to replace their F-16. With (at that period) it’s expected F-35 being introduced in region by Singapore..it’s not impossible Thailand will try to look at that direction too.
Considering proliferation of F-16 history in ASEAN…once Singapore fielded F-16, then just matter of time before some other ASEAN country field it. Singapore is already in F-35 program. Based on current economic condition..outside Singapore only Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have economic capabilities to field F-35 after 2020. However Malaysia seems set with either Rafale, Typhoon or Shornet. Indonesia seems set with Su-35 or their JV with ROK on KFX/IFX.
Thus leave Thailand. They already field Grippen, but they do need to replace their F-16 blk 15+ after 2020.
As non russian, non ukrainan and non westerner..all I can say MH17 is part of complete failure in international airline route management. This is complete failure of risk management in planing route on international traffic.
That route has no business to be open for civilian route. With the rebels already shoot down Ukraine airplane before on the range that clearly outside SHORAD range..no business on opening the route..
Opening international route on a conflict zone is clearly irresponsible..so whoever open that route..knowing a full scale war is happening in the area..is the one who should take main responsibility.
The candidate to replace F-86 Sabre (which incidently replacing Mig 21 of the 60’s) in the 70’s are F-5 or Mirage III. Indonesia choose F-5 because it’s cheaper to operate than Mirage III. The Indonesian AF wants to regain the supersonic capabilities its lost when Mig 21 being retired early.
In the 80’s when US open the door for F-16, the contendered also Mirage 2000. With now Flankers is open..then it’s time the AF feel to enlarge long range fighter inventory.
10 SU-35 as 1st batch for Indonesia, plan to concluded the contract in April.
KFX/IFX project does not intend to be Gen 5..but Gen 4.5+..at least on initial blk 1…potential to be after blk 3..but now the aim for 2025 schedulle is only the blk 1..The blk 3 supposedly aim to achieve what F-35 can do on present day set-up..but that’s aimed on 2030+ with condition the blk 1 and 2 development is on schedulle..by that time F-35 is expected already evolve in to more advance version..
So KFX/IFX project not been expected ever to catch-up with F-35 development..it’s intended less advance fighter than F-35 for ROK and Indonesian AF..but more advance then latest F-16/Shornet..with more economical cost..after all ROKAF already aimed for F-35 as Gen 5.
For Indonesian AF..with 24 refurbished F-16 plus 10 existing F-16 (which contract for upgrading them already being agreed)..put 34 thus 2 sq. This talk for gen 5 of Russian/Chinese origin so far only talked put by fanboys in Indonesian forum and media..
Too early to say that KF-X/IF-X project going no where simply because US do not want to transfer 4 critical tech. Those 4 critical tech now being offered by European suppliers as alternative if US continue not to give in. SAAB already offered tech transfer for AESA. While for Indonesia, the building facilities for KFX/IFX sites in DI/IAe still on going. Both ROK and Indonesian present administrations still comitted to the projects.
On Indonesian going to used Chinese or Russian gen 5..well it’s more to wish list on Chinese/Russian Hardware fan boys in Indonesian internet forum. Heck even this SU-35 as replacement for F-5 still not certain. Moreover 3 further sq requirement (2 for Hawk 200 replacement and another new sq) that SAAB and LM try to get with Gripen NG and F-16V.
