Sad news indeed, she was a lovely lady who always had some great stories to tell, she will much missed, especially at Biggin Hill.

And I believe theres a chunk of fuselage at Brooklands as well as the complete one. Probably enough bits around to cobble another static display one if the will and cash was there.

I visit Malta a lot and have massive respect both for the bravery of the Maltese people and the valour of the the RAF in WW2. I’ve also been up the runway of Hal Far a few times,not in a Spitfire unfortunately,but something a bit faster (over a quarter mile).
No data plate so that won’t be at Legends. 😮

My guess is metal contamination has been found during an oil analysis.

When I was a youngster (1970’s) one of our neighbours worked at Coleys, he used to bring me the odd titbit, instruments and the odd grip,I’ve still got some in a box somewhere in the loft.
From the pre release reviews I’ve seen this is a really exellent film, the cinematography is supposed to be amazing and is highly recommended to be viewed in the IMAX format, it is that spectacular!
When I was a kid one of the neighbours worked there, he used to bring me bits and bobs now and again, instruments and control grips etc, still got some in the loft.
Not to mention the loss of the countries 2nd best permanent drag strip (out of only 3 and York is poor).
