Would it be 2pm UK time due to us being 1 hour forward on GMT ??
Regards
Mark
I think its currently 5 hrs behind which makes T/O @ 3pm UK time
From their website:
Monday August 4
Departure time to the UK is scheduled for 10 am. The Museum opens early at 8 am and a short ceremony will take place prior to departure. The first transit stop is Goose Bay, Labrador.
Well done that man !
I think the popping and farting is coming from other Merlins being throttled back and landing. I would hazard that it was probably Mr H senior and therfore under complete control.:applause:
P51 Mustang over Billericay about 2 hours ago heading NE.
JJ?
Ahhh that’s what it was then. Heard but not seen to the south of Colchester a while later.
Nice Hawker Hunter fast and low over Rowhedge east to west around 1500hrs. :applause:
Mustang over Chelmsford today, heading east about 1400hrs. Sounded sweet as a nut.

Whilst it is indeed a product, the last time is was an actual product was in June 1954, and it isn’t a service either.
Neither would I imagine that it is being sold for personal gain, being the long term property of the Squadron monies will probably be going into unit funds.
The cockpit is firmly within the remit of the historic forum and personally I think our new friend should be thanked for drawing its upcoming disposal to the attention forum members, some of whom may be very intersted in it indeed.
Much better surely than it just appearing on the usual ‘spotted on ebay’ thread.:
Arkells of Swindon brew Hurricane.
They also do an occasional one called Moonlight. First brewed in 2003 to mark the 80th birthday of one of the Arkell family who flew Lysanders into France and the Low Countries in WW2.
Had both, very nice they are too 🙂
Assuming its the same one, he has just flown over Colchester heading SSE at quite some considerable altitude. Through the bino’s it appeared to be bare metal finish with no underwing indentifications, he was jolly high though, around the 8-10,000 ft mark I would estimate.

1) I really think that were each commentator on this thread to reveal how old they were in 1979 it could be quite revealing (31 before you ask)
Moggy
21 in 1979.
(BTW DB) I drive a 10 year old Rover and my PC is so old it was built in the UK and contains no Chinese components at all

Just noticed this on whalebone’s public profile. It explains, but does not excuse, his remarks.
“. Latterly a full time Union Official for the CWU. “
Nothing like selective reporting is there.
Failed to spot the 30 years “before the mast” bit. Full and proper engineering apprenticeship PO Telephones?BT followed by lots of hard graft and very good at my job thanks.
The title ‘Union Official’ does NOT equate to Arthur Scargill. Do not tar everyone with the same brush.
Union Officials in their hundreds across the country do very valuable work, supporting the average working person in the often daily struggle with unscrupulous employers. Scargill was a misguided idiot, but just like Thatcher, he too believed he was right. BOTH were WRONG.
I, like countless others, did everything right then had our careers destroyed at the stroke of a post privatization accountants pen. People who knew the price of everything, and the value of nothing and don’t get me started on the rest of British industry that was decimated and how it has ruined communities and changed the very fabric and soul of our country.
The post Thatcher backlash lasted so long that we eventually got Blair and Co who put us in even more doo doo so rest assured, I will be dancing just as hard when TB pops off (if I am still around)
If my glee at her demise wrangled with you a bit….one tough BIG SH1T sunshine.
Ever since my morning milk was taken away by a certain Education Minister, I have waited for this day. My Father told me to remember her name and what she had done, he also said that if she became powerful she would do far worse. I have not forgotten those words. I have enjoyed the sense of relief immensely, my only sorrow today is that he is not here to enjoy it too.
Mrs Thatcher’s legacy? Every time my now French owned energy company put my prices up, I thank her. 😡
