Hmm, It has suddenly started working!
I can only echo CharlieBravo’s comments about the organisers. I think the Red Bull Matadors warrent a special mention for putting on a very impressive display through some pretty heavy rain!
The weather cleared at the end for the Typhoon display which was fantastic!
Thanks
Jonathan
Hmm,
I did wonder if that would be the case :(. PBase is playing silly games again with external linking. Anyway until I can fix it, here is a link to the gallery:-

Thanks
Jonathan
Edit: I have updated the first post. Can anybody see them now?
Out of interest Darren, what do you see as the flaws in the Open RAW argument?
Jonathan
Thanks for the comments everybody. We had a really good time, and I expect we will be back next year…
Jonathan
T J,
Just for you… 🙂

Jonathan
Thanks,
I am afraid that I do not seem to have any of the MS406. Do you know if it flew on Saturday?
Jonathan
Cheers,
The Piper was an amazing display of flying, although he may have been cutting it a little too close… His entire display was performed along similar lines. He even managed to turn arund at the end of the runway with one wingtip a similar distance from the ground.

Jonathan
And a few more..

There are plenty more here:

If anybody wants any of anything I have not posted then please ask, as I have loads of other pictures although what with the weather, they are not all perfect by any standard…
Jonathan
I saw this Spit displayed yesterday at La Ferte Alais, in somewhat difficult conditions. I am not sure I like it at all. It makes a very unplesent noise (To my ears), I guess due to the contrarotating props. The nose of the aircraft looks like it has a pronounced droop, which looks very strange. I will post some pictures when I get back to the UK tomorrow.
Having said all the above, it is always interesting to see something new and unique so kudos to the owner for getting her back in the air.
Jonathan
I am staying with my brother who happens to live in Paris :). Apparently the train will take about 1 hour from Paris to La Ferte Alais. Just to warn people it seems that some parts of the public transport system in France are on strike on monday.
Jonathan
Thanks all!,
It sounds like it will be a great day out providing the weather is ok.
Cheers
Jonathan
Here you go…

Jonathan
I seem to be able to get away with 1/320 @300mm, but everybody is different. You will still get some prop blur at 1/500 so it may be best to start there and work back.
It is probably better to get a picture with an almosted stopped prop as opposed to no picture at all!
Jonathan
Hi,
I too use a D70, and the most important thing is to practice, practice and practice :). I try to do the following….
1. Unless using a lens with IS or VR, never go below 1/focal length. If you do you will decrease the number of sharp pictures significantly.
2. Use AF-C mode with dynamic areas selection.
3. This is personal, but I have found that it works quite well. I have configured the AF-l/AE-L button to operate the autofocus. This means that you can start the focus motor tracking with your thumb and then lock the exposure and take the picture with your shutter finger.
4. Always take loads of pictures. I shot 3.5Gb at the weekend.
Jonathan
Cheers all,
Maybe I am a little too self critical!
