I don’t see any TVC nozzle in that picture.

The Eurofighter is designed to be a twin engined fighter from the start. J-10 with two engines is only an internet rumor. They would have to completely redesign the fuselage. Changes in aerodynamics, in weight distribution, in the fuel lines and electical wiring. . . it just don’t make any sense from a practical point of view. Might as well make a new plane, a bigger plane that can haul more fuel.

Has any single engined jet fighter been sucessfully turned into a twin engined aircraft? Seems like it would be almost as much work to develope a seperate airframe altogether.

=IF= China acquires a carrier it is not absolutely necessary to use twin engined fighters. Plenty of American carrier jets were single engined. A thrust vectoring single engined J-10 would fill this role just fine.

However I do not believe the Chinese are going for a carrier. So called naval-J-10s are intended to operate from land bases. For this role the Flankers would do a much better job with its longer range and competitive price.

Putting two engines on a little plane equals short legs.

Supercruise is not meaningful unless you can have enough fuel to cruise for a while. The MiG-25 was a supercruising machine, F/A-22 not very ideal. Eurofighter, Rafael, J-10 etc can’t really fly far enough at that speed to be useful.

I’m beginning to like Naomi Watts. Everyone of her movies were worth the money. I’m looking forward to 21 Grams.

    The most overrated disease ever!

It killed what 700 people? Tuberculosis kills 2 million every year.

What is it about mildly lethal diseases that fascinate people so much?

I remember when people avoided Canada due to SARS while you’re more likely to get killed in a car accident on any given day.

That depends on what year. Were there periods when the odds favored the Soviets? With the benefit of hindsight, yes.

In their heyday the Backfires were quite formidible against a CBG. But 20 years later, no way. They still offer a force projection China doesn’t have though. To my knowledge it was Russia that denied earlier Chinese request for this bomber. So what has changed, other than it being even more obsolete?
