    RE: Milatary Answer Phone Message

It’s funny, but ever since I played Deus Ex I’ve had a strange urge to phone up MI6 – or some other powerful organisation – and say “Who will help the Widow’s son?”, just to see what happens.
Going off at a tangent, there. Sorry. 😉

    RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!

    Dazza,

He came back last July, sadly. But I can see it now…

    “Unit two-zero, check in.”
A GAF F-4 comes over the threshold. Dark smoke whirls from its tires as it hits the deck.
    CLICKCLICK. Whhirrrr-

    “Unit Two-zero, Check in please…”

With a screech a two-ship of F-117s burn across the field and break.
    CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK Whirrrrrrrrrrr –

“Unit Two-oh, there’s a situation out at Area 12. Check in.”

An F-4F rolls up to Last Chance. The pilot moves the control surfaces in turn as the “Bear” waves for the camera.
    CLICKCLICK Whirrrrr-
The whine of its engines momentarily becomes a harsh roar as the engines move experiementally to Military power, then throttle back to idle.

“Unit Two-Zero, you’re at the runway perimeter. Again. And that’s your camera I can just hear auto-winding there, but it’s hard to make it out over the sound of that Phantom out at Last Chance.”

The ‘Toom moves smoothly out to the runway, its engine sound peaking as the nozzles sweep past the lens. The air becomes warmed, tanged with kerosene.

    “I’ve got binoculars, you know.”

    A mighty ROAR!

    CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK – Whirrrrrr click.

    “Unit Two-Zero?”

    “Er, yeah?”

    “Ah, forget it.”

    RE: Hendon chaos

Yeah, it does seem odd on the face of it. IIRC, Cosford have recently performed a number of exhibit swaps with Hendon, but I can’t for the life of me remember what went from Cosford in return for the Hind.

    RE: Hendon chaos

I heard the other day that the Afghan Hind has been moved to Cosford, and is being readied for display there. 🙂

Great website, Garry. That Blackjack looks sweet (even though you’d need a 70′ shipping container to store the thing in 😉 )

    This caught my eye:

    RE: me too…

LAST EDITED ON 30-09-01 AT 12:57 PM (GMT)[p]Up to the age of four I could take this stuff or leave it… right up until my parents took me to see HMS Invincible arrive home from the Falklands. And then that partwork War Machine came out, and that was it.
I’ve done 1/72nd aircraft, most recently an X-35B in RAF markings, but the big thing for me are 1/700 modern warships. Over the past 10 years I’ve built 17 modern CVs and CVNs and a load of escorts, ending up hundreds of the tiny aircraft and helicopters they give you. Just rebuilt the Fujimi ’50s Ark Royal to its last state, with the angled deck and steam catapults, so I could put a load of Extra-Dark Sea Grey F-4s on the deck. That was quite nice. 🙂
