Venezuelan Flanker are Su-30MK2 like PLANAF ones.

Deliveries will run til 2008-2009 so maybe there could be some mods along the production run…don’t expect same kind of aircrafts being produced along 3 years when Chinese received same kind of aircraft in same number in 6 months!.

Bars’s D-Band is the IFF equipment, by that POV even the old Myech also uses D-Band, and it indeed uses it…for the Parol Tx/Rx subsystem in the two mirror antenna 🙂

Yet another major joint R&D effort between the DRDO and IMI now underway calls for radically upgrading of the T-90S+ main battle tank (MBT) by co-developing a new gun-control system, plus a stabilised, electrically-driven turret that will house Elbit Systems’ twin Thermal Imaging Stand Alone Sights (TISAS) for both the gunner and commander, a battle management/land navigation system incorporating a digital data recorder built by Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a 120mm rifled-bore main gun originally developed by DRDO for the Arjun Mk1 MBT that fires the IAI-built LAHAT laser-guided 8km-range anti-armour/helicopter missile as well as OFB-produced super-velocity FSAPDS-T ammunition, four laser warning sensors, a muzzle reference system, ammunition stowage system, Halon-based fire-suppression system that is automatically activated within 0.025 seconds, and a semi-automatic, electrically-driven magazine-based ammo loader. The MBT’s hull will be modified internally to house a combined NBC protection/air-conditioning system (the latter for individual crew members using micro-cooling techniques) sourced from Israel ‘s Kinetics Ltd. This joint R&D effort, costing some USD150 million, will see three upgraded T-90S+ MBT prototypes being subjected to user’s trials by late 2007, following which the MoD’s Avadi-based Heavy Vehicles Factory will commence bulk production of 600 such turrets under a USD400 million project. The MBT hulls will be imported in completely knocked-down condition from Russia ‘s Uralvagonzavod JSC. A single-unit TISAS will also be installed on board the Abhay futuristic tracked armoured infantry vehicle now being developed by the DRDO’s Avadi-based Combat Vehicles R&D Establishment.

Ok, this is a call to all proud indian members of this forum, we’re in presence of more Sengputa’s Bravo Sierra work, or there is something of true on all this?

First time I ever saw this.

Belrussian MiG-29 upgrade programme is called MiG-29BM/UBM but for the life of me I am unable to get some information about the details of the modernization.

    I can help you

    BELORUSSIAN

    MODERNIZED

One of the unexpected novelties of recent airshow MAKS-2005 became shown on the static stand RSK “MiG” the one-place multipurpose modernized destroyer MiG-29BM. Not declared in the preliminary lists of the flight vehicles, which participate in the exhibition, this aircraft arrived in Zhukovskiy on the eve of opening of airshow from the Belorussian military- air base of Baranovichakh. Now it has available Belarus’ with the participation of Russian specialists such several destroyers, which passed modernization at the aircraft maintenance plant 558 of republic located in the neighborhood. It is remarkable, that while VVS of Russia thus far so still and were obtained not one MiG-29SMT, Belorussian VVS already the pair of years exploit those modernized MiG-29BM. Not long before MAKS-2005 the correspondents of “Vzlet” visited Baranovichi and could more closely be introduced to the Belorussian novelty.

Formed during June 1992 the military- air forces of republic Belarus’ (in more detail about their creation, formation development — see “takeoff” №5/2005, pages 20—23) obtained at their disposal practically entire aviation equipment VVS of the former Soviet Union, which was being been based by this time on Belorussian territory. It entered into the number of this Soviet “heritage” and more than 80 fighters MiG-29 of the type “9-12” and “9-13”. Only more than fifty them it was based on airfield Bereza and previously it entered into the composition 927 IAP of the then 26 Air Army VVS of the Soviet Union, now reformed as 927 Air Base VVS of republic Belarus’. Three more ten such machines entered in 1992 the air base it grew from the composition of the disbanded 787 IAP VVS of the Soviet Union, which entered into the composition of the Western Group of Forces, which was being stationed in Germany. The latter were then transferred in Baranovichi, where on the base former 61 IAP of 2nd Independent Army PVO of the Soviet Union formed 61st Air Base VVS of republic Belarus’. To the middle of the 90s in its composition counted 30 destroyers MiG-29 even 23 heavier Su-27P, 52 more “MiG” were exploited to 927 Air Base at Bereza.

A significant reduction in the required number of military equipment in the armed forces of republic Belarus’ during the 90s freed a big enough quantity of sufficiently contemporary aircraft, part from which it was decided to sell abroad. As a result, in 1996, 18 destroyers MiG-29 (including two “dual-control aircraft” MiG-29UB) it was set by Belorussia on the contract in Peru. 31 additional aircraft of this type during 1999—2002 it found new owner in the person of Algeria’s AF. The first 16 Belorussian MiG-29 profits into this African country in 1999, in the following year them followed 11 more, and two final pairs “MiGs” Belarus’ supplied to Algeria in 2001 and 2002 (all data of — according to the officially published protocols OF UNITED NATIONS about the export of armaments and military equipment).

As a result at the beginning new century in the composition VVS of republic Belarus’ it remained only more than 40 destroyers MiG-29 on the air bases at Bereza and Baranovichi. Part of them it was decided to subject to modernization with the use of a Russian experience, obtained in second-half of the 90s with the creation of the first versions MiG-29SMT. And although Russian partners in the program of Belorussian modernization officially are not called, analyzing the ideology and the concrete technical solutions of the modification of Belorussian “MiGs”, not difficult to make the conclusion that in these works widely participated the specialists of Russian OKB “Russkaya Avionika”. The developments of precisely this association were inculcated onboard the first experiment aircraft according to the program MiG-29SMT entered the tests in 1997 in further, true, VVS of Russia they decided to forego the version of modernization proposed MiG-29, after being reoriented to another executor of works on the aggregation of the renovated “board”.

Analogous fate understood the joint proposal “Russian avionics” and IAPO on the modernization of destroyers of the type Su-27 and Su-30: the personified similar modifications experimental Su-27UBM and Su-30KN did not find further support in Russia. The modernization of combatant destroyers Su-27 in VS of Russia with 2003 is carried out through another “scenario” and by another composition of executors. But the renovated Russian program MiG-29SMT thus far so did not see real embodiment in VVS of the country (possibly, it nevertheless to approach into 2006—2007, but modernized MiG-29SMT they are now let out exclusively for the export on the contracts with Yemen and Eritrea).

Nevertheless, the obtained “Russian avionics” operating times did not be in vain: in the beginning present decade by them interested themselves Belorussian servicemen, who posed the problem of the modernization of the part of the park of their aviation equipment. As a result, in short periods by the forces of 558 ARZ in Baranovichi with the active participation of Russian specialists were re-equipped and tested immediately three models of the modernized aircraft and helicopters – destroyers MiG-29BM and Su-27UBM1, and also the multipurpose transport- combat helicopter Mi-8MTK01.

Tests MiG-29BM (aircraft “9-11”) were successfully completed by July 2003, and plant in Baranovichi of the beginnings of the delivery of the first modernized “MiGs” VVS of republic. Aircraft are taken directly from the line unit and after modification return back to the composition of 61 Air base, simultaneously, in accordance with the acting operational documentation, on them the necessary repair work are carried out.

It is worthwhile to note that 558 ARZ has the wide experience of the repair of destroyers MiG-29: from the moment of its mastery in 1994 in ten years in Baranovichi it was repaired and returned into the system of 86 aircraft of this type. They here passed the necessary preparation before the delivery for the export “MiGs”, the changed “citizenship” from the Belorussian to the Peruvian and the Algerian.

At the air display in honor 60- of anniversary of the release of Belorussia from the Fascist-German aggressors 3 July 2004 was in flight for the first time publicly demonstrated already the component of four MiG-29BM named by the President of Belarus’ Aleksandr Lukashenko “ultramodern aircraft”. “In two years we made single-design machines, after converting them from the destroyers into the attack aircraft. They can work both on the earth and by air”, — commented appearance MiG-29BM at the parade in Minsk the President of republic.

But in spring present year Belorussian modernized MiG-29BM again appeared in the summaries of the information agencies: the pilots of VVS of Belarus’ and 558 ARZ established on two machines of this type whole series of world aviation records.

The basic directions of the modernization of destroyer MiG-29 to the level MiG-29BM are connected with the modification of the sou of that marching and the installation of new equipment, the significant expansion of the nomenclature of armament and the introduction of the system of refueling in flight. Therefore the aircraft finds a number of new by qual. first, into the composition of the weapon of the class “air-to-air” they are additionally introduced intermediate range rocket RVV-AE, R-27ER and R-27ET (thus far on MiG-29 was ensured the application only of intermediate range rockets R-27R and R-27T, and also rockets of close battle R-73 and R-60M). Rockets RVV-AE have inertial principle of guidance with the frequency control and active radar homing in the finite segment.

On MiG-29BM of them it can be suspended to six pieces. “Energy” rockets R-27ER and R-27ET have the increased (in comparison with R-27R and R-27T) launching range. The first has inertial guidance with the frequency control in the initial phase of flight and semi-active radar homing on the final, the second is equipped with heat-seeking head. Both it can be suspended to the modernized destroyer on two pieces (to the internal hearth it concealed [evye] pylons).

The second new quality MiG-29BM is introduction into the nomenclature of the armament of the high-precision weapons of destruction of ground (sea) targets. Among them rocket X-29T (TD) with the television self-homing heads, X-29L and X-25ML with the semi-active laser self-homing heads, anti-radiation- X-31P and antiship X-31A, and also the corrected bombs KAB-500KR and KAB-500L in all on MiG-29BM can be placed two rockets “[vozdukh]—[poverkhnost]” and [dve]—[chetyre] the corrected bombs. Equipment L-150-22. that intended for control and aim designation to rockets X-31P, is placed in the container. Before the adaptation to the aircraft of special optical-electronic aiming container application MiG-29BM the controlled weapon with the laser by semi-active self-homing heads (X-29L, X-25ML, KAB-500L) possibly only with the external aim designation of — the laser illumination of purpose from another aircraft (helicopter) or from the earth.

Thirdly, in the radar aiming complex of the modernized destroyer MiG-29BM realizes a number of the new operating modes. Modernized RLPK N019P of this aircraft additionally provides the survey of terrestrial and aqueous surface with the detection of the individual and group, point and extensive ground-based and above-water radio-contrast targets EOP from 10 to 5000 m2, the delivery of the coordinates of discovered targets for shaping of aim designation and the application of new types of the controlled weapon, in such cases of the rockets “air-to-air” RVV-AE and antiship missiles X-31A. in accordance with the expansion of the nomenclature of armament is finished the regular system for control of the weapon (SUO) 20PM6.

Fourthly, the possibilities of the navigation complex of destroyer substantially are enlarged. Now it ensures introduction and storage of the data about 99 intermediate points of route (PPM), airfields and radio-range beacons (earlier it was only six), formation and storage of the data about eight flight courses (earlier it was not ensured), the determination of the coordinates of aircraft with a error in less than 80 m (it was 700 m), the determination of ground speed with the error 0.2 m/s, the possibility of work with the international system of the navigation VOR/ILS. Into the composition of new navigation complex N-911 they enter the navigation computer MVK-NVG, the receiver of global positioning system GLONASS/NAVSTAR, the radio-technical system of short-range navigation (RSBN) A-323, equipment navigation and landing VOR/ILS and DME. In this case the series information complex of vertical line and course Ts-050 aboard remains, the system of air signals SVS-II-72-3-, radio altimeter A-037, the system of limiting signals SOS-3-1, flight command and planned navigation instruments (KPP and PNP-72-12), and the system of automatic control of aircraft SAU-451-04 is finished.

The information-control field of cockpit undergoes modernizations. Instead of the obsolete monochromatic television indicator of the direct viewing IPV-2, to which on the series MiG-29 was derived aiming information from RLPK and KOLS. on MiG-29BM is established multifunctional colored liquid-crystal indicator MFI-55 with the size of the operating field of 5×5 of inches and the fastener framing. Navigation, survey- aiming and parametric information is derived to it in the graphic form, and also the image of locality and purposes, obtained by the television self-homing heads of the guided missiles X-29T (TD) and the corrected bombs KAB-500Kr, the electronic system of mapping information (SOI) ensures also delivery into the system of control of armament (SUV) and BREO of information, necessary for shaping of the modes of operation of complex from the fastener framing of [inlikatora] MFI-55. Besides SOI with MFI-55 on MiG-29BM remains the regular system of united indication SEI-31-1, but without IPV-2, which ensures the formation of aiming information on the indicator of against the background frontal glass ILS-51.

Modifications underwent also used on the aircraft MiG-29 the systems of control, prevention of crew and recording of the parameters. The system of control and warning of crew “Ekran-03M” is finished in the support unit of control of the newly established systems and output of information along the digital line of communications about the state of aircraft systems into the equipment of the information- analytical system of real time (IASRV) “Aist”. The application of this equipment is for the first time provided for the aircraft MiG-29BM in this case to the ground-based control post in real time is transferred and is accumulated there the information both about the parameters of flight and about the location of aircraft in the airspace and the targets discovered by it. Furthermore, on MiG-29BM is inculcated the complex of the inspection of engines and systems of the aircraft, which accomplishes registration and accumulation on the solid carriers before 1G6 of flight information from the systems “Tester-UZL”, “Ekran-03M”, BP K-88 ser. 3KM and SOK, its processing and rapid analysis. Onboard the destroyer is additionally established also VHF radio station R-800L2.

Finally, by one additional essential (in such cases external) difference MiG-29BM from the series MiG-29 is the introduction on it of the system of refueling in flight. In the head part of fuselage, on the left side, is established the easily removable, nonretractable in flight rod of refueling with the universal receiver of fuel GPT-2E, which ensures jointing with the tankers both of Russian and foreign production. System ensures inflight refueling of both the internal tanks MiG-29BM and of suspension — of subfuselage and two underwing. It can be carried out by day in the simple meteorological conditions, during the visual detection of tanker aircraft, in the range heights from 2000 to 8000 m with the flight speed 400-600 km/h (Mach number not more than 0,85). As a result one in-flight refuelling the flying range of destroyer MiG-29BM grows by the value to 80%, substantially increases also duration of flight. The presence of the un- retractable rod does not set limitations on piloting and solution of combat problems.

As a whole in the process of the re-equipment of combatant aircraft MiG-29 according to the type MiG-29BM into the composition of its BREO it is introduced by 23% of new blocks, and around 6% undergoes modifications. According to the estimations of the authors of modernization, as a result injected improvements of the machine complex and expansion of the nomenclature of armament the combat potential of aircraft MiG-29BM with the solution of problems “air-to-air” grows, in comparison with the series MiG-29, by 80%. and with the solution of the problems “air-surface” — by 4.

For the ground-based training and the instruction of crew in the execution of flights and to the combat employment of the modernized destroyer MiG-29BM by the forces of 558 ARZ and OKB “Russian avionics” is developed and prepared the complex trainer of this aircraft, whose first set is already transmitted TO VVS of Belarus’ and is in operation itself at 61 Air Base in Baranovichi. It makes it possible to produce preparation and trainings of the pilots of destroyers MiG-29BM for the flights in the daytime and at night under different geographical and weather conditions in accordance with the management on the flight operations of aircraft and the course of combat training.

Into the composition of the complex trainer of aircraft MiG-29BM (KTS- MiG-29BM) enter the fixed mock-up of cab with the complete set of instrumentation, the system of the visualization of aft-of-cabin space, is working the place of instructor- operator, computer complex and auxiliary table trainer. The mock-up of cab KTS-MiG-29BM on the information-control field corresponds to the real compartment of aircraft, has the rise-and-fall armchair of pilot, the aircraft control stick and of pedal with the mechanisms of load, trimming and adjustment of control, engine-control levers, regular panels, signal panel and indicators, and also the imitators of flight and navigation instruments and instruments for monitoring of systems with the real by exterior view and the indication.

The projection system of the visualization of aft-of-cabin space ensures mapping airspace observed by pilot, the earth’s surface, ground-based and air objects and purposes, and also application of a weapon onto the segment of sphere with the angular dimensions of 120° along the azimuth and 30—40° on the angle of elevation.

From the work site of instructor- operator is accomplished the start and control of the operating modes KTS-MiG-29BM. On it is represented the tactical situation with the actual chart area, the flight trajectory of aircraft, targets and rockets, aft-of-cabin space with the image of screen ILS, flight instruments and positions of control control levers of aircraft, by engines and systems, screen MFI-55, information about the failures of onboard systems.

Computer complex ensures interaction of the systems of trainer, simulation of the dynamics of flight and work of the systems of aircraft, in such cases the flight simulation of aircraft, tactical situation and motion of targets, work SUV, display system, navigation, SUO, application of the controlled and unguided weapon, including gunnery, onboard failures.

Auxiliary table trainer is the automated working place of pilot, which permits implementation of [podygrysh] during the finalizing on the trainer of actions in the pair and imitations of th purpose e controlled by operator.

The complex trainer of aircraft MiG-29BM makes possible for pilots to be trained in resolution of all flight-director tasks and questions of combat employment, determined by management on the flight operations of aircraft and course of combat training. The simulation of aft-of-cabin situation is accomplished with the high degree of realism for all stages of flight and combat employment and is included the simulation of different landscapes on the basis of the digital actual charts area and data of aerial photography, different times of year, time of twenty-four hours and meteorological conditions, fixed ground-based (sea) objects and virtual mobile objects (aircraft, rocket, etc).

For training the combat employment of a aircraft MiG-29BM trainer makes it possible to master operations with RLS, KOLS and by other equipment of destroyer, by all types of the used by real aircraft weapon (controlled and unguided) on the air and ground targets, and also the tactical methods of conducting war shooting is single in the composition of pair (with the use of virtual partners and enemies), the regimes of cartography of terrestrial (aqueous) surface, recovery into the region of inflight refueling, rapprochement with the tanker, jointing with it and the realization of refueling.

4 and on 10 March 2005 three military pilots VVS of republic Belarus’ established on two aircraft MiG-29BM (onboard of №06 and 07) whole series of the world aviation speed records and rate of climb. Record flights were undertaken on the initiative the federations of the aviation sport (FRONT) of republic Belarus’ and included attempts at the establishment of the world records of the time of climb 3000,6000, 9000 and 12 000 m without the load and with the load into 1000 and 2000 kgf, and also on reaching of flight speed along the closed route with a extent of 100, 500 and 1000 km without the load. In all were executed four flights, in which it was possible to establish 15 world aviation records. In this case world records on the time of climb of 12 000 meters without the load and the flight speed on that locked 100-, 500 – and 1000- km to route without the load in this class of aircraft earlier were not established.

12 world records on the time of climb established 4 and on 10 March the senior inspector of the security service of flights VVS and air defense forces of republic Belarus’ the pilot of the first class Lieutenant Colonel Vyacheslav Brovchenkov the record of maximum speed on the closed route with a length of 100 and 500 km established on 10 March the chief of the station of the flight tests by 558 ARZ pilot-sniper Colonel Alexander Barrel- roar, and analogous record on the closed by 1000- km route during the same day attained navigator 61-[j] of the destructive air base of Western operational-tactical command VVS and air defense forces republics Belarus’ pilot the first class Major Yuri Kovalev [Imenno] it after two months it headed the component of destroyers MiG-29 at the air display in honor 60- anniversary the victories on 9 May 2005 g. in Minsk (see “the takeoff” of №6/2005, p. 2.

The parameters of the record flights of Belorussian pilots on MiG-29BM registered the sport commissioners THE FRONT of Russia, who were accredited THE FRONT of republic Belarus’ in accordance with the requirements of the sport code of international aviation federation FAI. The results reached were acknowledged as those corresponding to requirements FAI for this class of aircraft. The results of objective of control after processing represented in FAI for the official assertion.

Scorpion is correct but the correct way to name such aircraft is Su-35 plain, and refer to the old project as Su-27M, just my opinion.

BTW a prototype of Irbis indeed flew past year, but using a PERO phased array antenna instead of the Skat-M derived one.

Current Su-35 advertisment talks of a 3M54A “Club” Missile. There is no currently plans or physical “airborne launched” Club, but sure it could be done…if not, why to advertise it?

My question is: Is the Irbis AESA a wish thinking from some indian people or are there really plans for an AESA Irbis at that time?

It’s PESA, anything else, rubbish from media.

4.) Some years ago I read about a supersonic capable antiship missile called Alfa associated with the Su-34. However I never heared something about that again. It was about 1997.

Old project from NPO Novator, 3M51 Al’fa. It was superseeded by 3M54/3M14 “Klub” family of missiles.

5.) Vietnam ordered 24 Su-30MKV in 2003(?). Any updates about deliveries. And I read that the MKV is similar to the chinese MK2 can someone confirm that?

Vietnam’s Su-30 are called Su-30MK2V. They’re a total of four, based on Su-30MK2. Su-30MKV are for Venezuelan Air Force, and it’s based also on Su-30MK2. Indonesia also uses Su-30MK2 (2).

Malasya and Argelia will receive Su-30MKI derived airframes.

Russia currently have 24 Su-27SM at Dzemgi and 5 at Lipetsk. 12 further are in KnAAPO for mods, and a total of 48 are to be received when the program finished.

9.) Are the first Su-34 delivered now? Heared deliveries should begin this year.

Two soon to be delivered to Lipetsk.

Hi Scorpion, indeed T-10BM is the designation name for the project (T-10S/T-10K/T-10M/T-10V/T-10PMK, etc, etc, etc).

Russian Air Force derivative (planned, proposed…) is called Su-27SM2.

Joey it’s single seat, I haven’t seen any information on a two-seat aircraft.
