    Ryanair’s next base

    Ryanair is actively pursuing its plans to set up a base in Malta.
    does anyone have anymore info on this pls?

    It probably has nothing to do with the CofG. More likely that they charge for the front row seating.

    Ryanair just announced it will fly a daily to MLA from LTN from November.

    The London-Malta route is over saturated with no less than 3 scheduled airlines operating on the route from 3 London airports. Apart from chartered flights in the peak season. I really don’t see much point in adding two more airlines and yet another airport. AirMalta has a strong position out of LHR. So that is not likely to change. BA operates from LHG but without much enthusiasm. BritishJet cancels many flights in winter. And two rival LCC’s to start operating from the same airport LTN. Something will have to give. This will be interesting.

    The reason why there has not been a low cost invasion is because there is only one airport in Malta and LCC’s especially Ryanair are too cheap to fly to mainline airports.

    However, today FR and U2 have applied for routes as follows:

    U2: LTN, MLH
    FR: LTN, DUB, PIS.
