Just breezing though the comment to get a jist of things..

Are the FORUM 3 employed by Key Publications????

As far as im aware they are not therefore any legal action by the Big Pen Boys should be taken directly to them. If they say things that get themselves into trouble then they should be prepared to deal with it themselves. Airing views in puplic is a right we all have but obviously should not be abused as the knock on effect for everyone else can only get worse.

Key Publishing + Mods perhaps should have removed the threads when things started getting rocky, Giving a few slapped wrists here n there . Although it it difficult to cater for everyone and how they will react to other peoples views, also to be able to do this in time sometimes as this forum is a 24/7 thing..

The FORUM 3 as far as i can tell have not started any campaign to start a war, an act of terrorism, plan to take down a company or persons within.. If they have hit a sore point with somebody big somewhere then that point should be addressed and dealt with becouse if OUR 3 picked up on it then surley others will!!!!!!!! THEY CANT ARREST EVERYONE

Theres lots that could be offered and said here but for the most part most of us are working in the dark as we are unaware of what has been said that reqd threats of legal action.. I would like to see these guys back on the forum becouse we need some colour in ours forum lives now n then and this thread is an example of it..

I remember being at Coningsby when the Lancaster had a serious engine problem, just after take-off. She was on her way to Yeovilton (I think), to do the Poppy drop over the Channel during the D-Day 50th anniversary celebration.

I’m not sure but I seem to remember it being declared as an engine fire, but she certainly landed very quickly, with 3 engines running.

Co-incidently, I went to East Kirkby the next day, and saw “JustJane” fire up the 1st of her engines.

    Regards, Cabbage

I watched her take off and the STB outer(? a whiles ago now, memories foggy) start puffing out loads of smoke. It was like a WW2 movie scene. By the time she had gone downwind the smoke had near enough gone. The fire station sprang into action in the fastest time ever…. Once again i was up in the hanger when the cowlings were taken off. The sooties took the Rocker covers off and it was if someone had taken a lump hammer to the parts inside the right bank of the engine. Swarf in the oil was what it was put down to but unsure as to exactly where it had come from due to the damage..

Ive got a piston from the engine that was given to me on an engraved plaque as a leaving prezzy in 1994

MY points are from observation of the video and from some knowledge of having worked on, flown in and flown aircraft plus being a part of PA474`s life for 4 years. hear say from over the years that sneek in can cloud judgement..

On aproach PA474 is crabbing sideways. note how the nose is pointing towards the camera, Note also the positioning of the WW1 aircraft at the far end of the airfield before the windsock comes into play. At least two of them have engines running ready for take off and display. They would pretty much take off from where they are standing and would be face into wind (if its not a gentle breeze).

From the cameraman point of view I would say the wind is coming from behind and over his left shoulder. PA474 i would say is landing into a 50/50 nose/crosswind with the rudders being kicked all over the place.

Not sure if your meant to be breaking that early into a landing run as the control surfaces would still have plenty of moving air around them. Although the tail surfaces would be masked by the wings slightly and make them less effective when the tail is down.

It all seemed to happen at that crossover point when your not quite fully on the ground but your not flying either.. At which point it turn in to a juggling act for the pilot.

“eddywinch82 – i thought i read somewhere that it had more to do with a brake problem on touchdown which caused her to veer to one side, rather than a crosswind?!”

It might well have been that I am just going on what I read in my BBMF book, the incident definately happend at the 1992 Mildenhall Air Fete, not a good year for UK airshow incidents with the BBMF Spitfire IIA P7350 engine failure on takeoff and subsequent forced landing at RAF Chivenor Airshow and of course the Rolls-Royce Spitfire XIV RM689 Crash at the Woodford Airshow.

P7 having a nose job after her bump.. In the group shot of JOB DONE im on the right of shot. SAC Steve Chipping is kneeling on the wing in one shot n posing and SAC Pete Dawson is actually doing some work for once and is spraying a lick of primer. I sprayed the camo

generaly no becouse when you demask you are left with and edge of primer beneath the top coat colour. Not to bad with light colours but on dark stuff it shows up. As long as the surface your painting on is sound, clean and free from any deep scratches then all is reqd is a light sand with either 320 or 400 grit wet n dry type sandpaper or some of the red scotchbright, then apply the top coat colour..

If spraying? then give a semi light coat 1st followed by a heavier wet coat once the 1st coat has gone tacky after a few mins, this should cover any colours underneath, if not then give a 3rd coat but by this time it should be more than enough . If rolling? then try to do it in one good coat by criss crossing until your happy you have an even amount of paint overall.

After applying the paint try to remove the tape nearest the edge of paint whilst its still wet as this will let the paint “” fall down “” at the edges and give a smoother edge when dry, try not to do it when tacky as this sometimes pulls and stretches the paint beyond the masking line edge and gives an uneven edge..

    Have fun 😉

Early swept wing design?????. Probably aimed at the early flying clubs for easier storage but i expect there was an Air ministry reason behind it somewheres??
