Aha yes i seem to remember there were a set of wings kicking around outside but i had no idea they were off a Battle. Im amazed that so much important stuff has passed through that hanger, im just glad i managed to capture some of it :D..
Nice to see the Battle outside as well
Dusted off a few more shelves and found these extra few from around the same time.
The Tornado had just been brought back from the Gulf after it had run off the runway and broke in half just around the Nav seat. There was still loads of sand stuff in it.
Not too sure what was happening to the Argosy aircraft?, the one in bits seemed to be in epoxy primer and being restored rather than being scrapped. Bit of a mystery that one
Rumour had it that the Canberra`s were sold of £1 each. I think they were all ex RN aircraft??.
That Phantom went round n round
I seem to remember there was about 10 Spits in various states of repair. All different marks
A couple more.
The Double Bucc mod wasn`t a great success and i believe only this prototype was ever made. Seen here about to perform a flypast
😉
..
“”Disposal”” meaning sold off rather than reduced to scrap
Who said anything about scrapping??
There was some pioneer stuff there as well so gawd knows what happend to those.. i think the Vulcan was scrapped?. Is it the Cosford Mossi?, same with the Blue Steel and VI. The bubble car was just like an aircraft inside and was fab. Most of the Spits were gutted cockpit wise as far as i remember
and the last i think for now??, Also added a few comings n goings whilst down there.. i might just add that i did visit the hanger a couple of times after and let some civvy mates in through the back door so to speak
That a young daft me me in the back seat of the Messerschmitt bubble car with a Spitfire on our six
ALL TAKEN AROUND 1990-91 ERA
The cat?? just thought it funny 😀
SUMOR SUMOR
SUMOR
But i can watch the BofB movie time n time again. I think the real aircraft help 😉
It was a Facebook friend of mine who took the picture. The Venezuelan K8 was from the General Rafael Urdaneta AFB AND was performing a flypast for a special parade celebrating the Air Forces 92nd anniversary in Maracay when a mechanical failure took place. The pilots both survived and were from the Special Ops Air Group no15..
The sudden pitch down would occur due to the aircrafts low speed and being in landing configuration. The low speed being recognized by the fact both crew are high and above the aircraft rather than being further back if the aircraft was at high speed at this point. At the low speed and low hight the aircraft was probably being held back on the stick by the pilot to counter the low slung drag of the undercart and the forward pitching action flaps create when lowered with added engine power to maintain a slow rate of descent. Once he let go of the stick during the ejection the aircraft would naturally pitch quickly forward.. Engine failure was probably at fault judging by the rather controled look of the aircraft
Anyone has the right to say what they like within reason and everyone is different.Thats what makes the world go round.. The Americans of course like to over do stuff and i agree that some of the CGI stuff is completely daft. To tell you the truth ive “”ONLY”” watched the movie trailers and that that was enough to put me off watching the film
Did they not run them up at Cosford as well, including some of the Jap stuff??
Theres a nice Contra prop Seafire down under thats just about ready to fly if im not mistaken??
