some lovely and well thought out angles there. dont think ive got a fave becouse they are all fab
“”Always””
opening sequence and the movie in general coz im a big softy at heart ha ha
judging by the way the discolouration seems to be coming from under the panels on the tail (ie a straight edge) i would say something has got t i t s up inside that area of the rear body.
but then again it also looks like semi baked on sand and dirt??
At least he landed in the right country at the very least ha ha
thank you.. i dont think its open on a monday though
sack the pilot n nav if they have a human one in those things?? ha ha.. what a shambles when you consider that WW2 bomber crews would fly at night for endless hours in all kinds of weather facing flack, fighters etc and still manage to find thier base with minimal navigation aids as compared to today..
this guy on a nice sunny day couldn`t work out the difference in size of runway and types of aircraft stationed there. what a fluff up and major gaff.
how cute is that..
many congrats mr n mrs Mossi you have a baby er??
hmmmmmm…..
almost spread himself across the mountain.
i almost bid on that on ebay
Yes, but, it`s not in th Mere it`s in “The Bog”
in the last part of D1556,s question Ellesmere,s Mere is mentioned. its not in a bog or otherwise..
many years ago there was a Civvy DC3 that crashed in a dive into a bog in Snowonia, parts of the aircraft and a few bodies were still on the surface when the aircraft was found hours later. many bits of wreckage on the surface were taken away only a few years ago becouse people were risking life n limb to grab parts of it. the area is now fenced off. even today fresh bits of aircraft/cargo manage to find thier way to the surface.
there was also a Halifax in Mid Wales that crashed into a bog and there are still parts lying around if you know where to look.
im sure there would have been wreckage, dinghy, life jackets and all manner of flotsam and jetsam that can float apart from bits of aircraft that would sit on the muddy surface including oil and fuel slicks which are quite distintive and smelly. theres so many parts on a big aircraft like a Lanc that would break away and given that the Shropshire airspace in WW2 would be crowded with aircraft from several local airfields im sure something would have been spotted.. farmers aint daft either, they will spot a broken bit of barbed wire or a lame animal from miles away so to miss some like a Lanc in your back yard????????
lived round these parts all my life and im sure i would have had a lump of it by now if it was true.. the Mere is a fresh water nature reserve and is kept in tip top clean condition. any contamiation from corrosion and leaking fluids would have been spotted long ago.
love that era of air racing but mostly the shape n sight of the DH88 Comet.
i present my painting for your observation
low and slow heading upto North Wales from Shropshire about 10 mins ago. 6pm
ive had a good look online as i cant get down there this year.. my faves are these. mainly becouse of the strength of the talent that has created these pictures.
as an artist myself its the first one i like the most, its perhaps not the most dramatic but the tones and detail that have gone into it that amaze me. the more you look at it then the more apparent the artists skills come out, wonderful
