    Something similar was done with various aircraft to test catapult stress and power except the aircraft were unmanned and had the out portion of cut cut off. I seem to remember a tale of a Spitfire/Seafire? that had this done to it but was trimmed to well and flew around for a while before crashing into the sea 😮

    Not quite the same thing but i seem to remember a Gannet being landed successfully despite losing both outer wing sections whilst in the air.

    Cracking shot but the picture ive seen was of one almost landing. It was in an old aviation mag from the 1960`s ish that i picked up in a second hand shop.

    WOW they were cracking pics. When you think blimp it doesn`t really excite the imagination but i must say i was quite impressed and surprized as to how long they seemed to serve for.

    Andy started how i was going to. Sound more like Cold War sabre rattling and beating of shields to intimidate, provoke but also scare at the same time. The amount of times the Soviet TU-95 Bear`s came well within striking distance of the UK is amazing. Each country knew that if they push the other too far and forced backs to the wall then it wouldn`t take much to pop a nuke over the border. We old`uns grew up with DUCK N COVER but i dont think it would have helped much.
    There may well be the odd missile fired,plane shot down or boat sunk but the likelyhood of all out war is not real becouse either country would suffer in the long run due to outside pressure from the rest of the world. The same reason that the Argi`s haven`t had a go at the Falklands again coz it basically bug gered up the country and brought riots to the streets and was almost brought to its knee`s.

    All done n dusted now apart from signing it..

    Many thanks to those who have helped point me in the right directions over some of the details and thanks to everyone who took time out and posted pictures to help me see my way 😉 .

    In time i will take it to print but this is something ive not done for a long time and never with a colour picture. After all this is only my 5th ever painting 🙂

    AS ALWAYS CLICK TO ENLARGE. if you spot owt else that needs adding then fire away but for the most part its set as it is.

    Ive some tidying up to do with the rays of light to get the angle shifted around a half inch or so then it should start to work. Trouble with this is the sun is right out off view and as you say the light is diffused making refence difficult. Im not actually working a single photo but about 30, The sky and sea are from my imagination though and ive gone where the painting has taken me to a certain extent but have tried to place everything in the right place within reason 😉

    Skyshooter- Thanks for that pointer, I had seen them but forgot about them becouse ive been flaffing with the top part of the S6b.. Its Acrylic.

    Trumper – Yes i will add it and may do that on Sunday eve as thats a good incentive to look at thank you 😉

    Had to change the position of the cheat line that runs the length of the body as it was too low. Pain in the back side to sort but done now.. Ive a few details to add like the numbers and horn mass balances but im pretty much there. Another 2 or 3 hours and then i can start my next picture. I think its going to be Harrier GR3 in the hover amongst dust n dirt flying up as it leaves its hide somewhere in Germany 😀
