there a book series called “Bomber Command Losses”. they cover just about all wartime and peacetime RAF losses, either on active service, transport and training command upto the 1950`s.

excellent shots although my eye is drawn to the wrinkles and creases on the body below the cockpit on the first shot. ive seen stuff like that on wings n things when doing aero`s but this looks like straight line stuff.

a fab selection of shots. very clear and sharp. the colour and shapes of these lovely old designs lend themselves really to your camera

    odd bits

leaving aside the rotor and boom, whats with the angle of the stabilizer?. its forked back as on the wings on a jet fighter. its not something thats a result of the crash. the stabilizer is normally a slab on the MH 60. i thinks its a totally different beasty but using common parts.

ha ha, i had a ropey start trying to start my post!!!.
its a very big beast with a certain grace around it large size. im surprized that the pic i posted is so well known. they did a pretty good job faking it if they did as the angle of light/shadows are pretty much bob on. the pilot sits so high up and the big belly is miles away from his backside. even the prop ground clearance is above the belly line.
after seeing some of the low flying pics on this forum i cant see why this would be a fake?

my old mate SQN LDR Jimmy James who actualy took part in the the real Great Escape basicaly said that the film was “clap trap” and “Hollywood hallibahoo”.
some of the smaller events did take place but not as glorious and gung ho as the movie would have you believe.
Jimmy could still not understand how he did not get included by the Germans when they took away the other prisoners for execution. he said the ones that were kept alive had connections with royalty or or importance in rank and standing in British society etc.
“he” he said had nothing but in the end as the allies invaded he was sent to a concentration camp and just managed to scrape through alive to the end of the war.

A big BZ to Blue Max!!!

It also annoys me when people use ICAO code for airfield names.

“Did anyone see the MD82 at EGLL the other day? Or the C150 at EGBP on its way to BZN?”

Speak the Queen’s (as ooposed to American) English please and we’ll all know where we are

    TTFN OK:D

Ha ha all makes sense to me
