I don’t know which model you have built but if you were thinking of using it as a guide for the shape of the S6B it may be helpful to know that modelmakers in the 70’s reckoned that both the Frog and Airfix kits were wrong. It was usually suggested that if you cut each model in half and used the tail section of one with the nose of the other you would have a pretty accurate S6B. Problem is I can’t remember whether it was the front half of the Airfix kit with the rear half of the Frog kit or vice versa.
Mines a “Testors” kit in 1/48th scale. Ive got a 1/72 polish made kit thing i started but it was way to small to get the light bouncing around in a good scale like way so i might just set fire to it or blow it up in good old childhood fashion 😀
PLEASE!
We really have enough to do without answering the same question over and over again.
I know it’s a fag to read back through five or six pages, but the answers are there.

Moggy, Why dont you remove this thread so we can start all over again and then all the answers would be at the begining 😀
Cheers for, will have a shufty for it 😉 ..
Adding a few details now. Yet to add a tint of light brown to represent the Barrack block
Rob68`s post highlights a rather expensive way around doing it.. Its often the pennies that count and add up after a while that keep things moving. In the meantime the heavier lumps of money coming in takes time and are few and far between.
There does have to be a big rethink though and i hope there are some connections on here that can give the feedback and ideas in a constructive way to the Sally B Mob.. Be a shame if it does not as ive seen some great ideas here
WOW many thanks you all, im humbled ..
Chump, Its interesting to note that in your 1st picture it looks as though they are just starting construction of the Officers mess on the left of the picture.. This should help date that and obviously pre`dates your other pic..
I think i have all i need for now but please carry on on thread if you so wish??
Schneiderman, ISB number for your book please 😉
T Shirts? Someone mention T-Shirts?
In the shops before Christmas??? 😀
Where about does the Officers mess sit in relation to the long hanger & castle?..
Were the rear of the prop blades painted black ar a dark colour??
That black line across the wing seems to be on both wings on some models and only one on others???. Once again as with the bracing wires between the floats people have replicated mistakes.. Ref the line on the wing Its again one of those details which may make it through the reflected light or not?, will see how the aircraft panns out in the painting.
Cheers again for all the pointers. Im so glad i asked on here as there are at least 2 major boo boos i would have made 😮
Well thats some rather important details that i didnt know off.. i will study some more S6b images carefully now you mentioned it Skyskooter ;).
The roofs may well have been made of that dreaded stuff.. i may just highlight them as if the light is bouncing off brightly. Thinking about it that way I could probably get round the issue
A full respray would cost zillions as compared to the budget they are on.. a full bare metal paintstrip and a season in bare metal would look fab but not sure how she would cope with our “lovely weather??. At least in an overall silver paint scheme the sqn colour changes would be easy. Can you imagine her all over silver against a deep blue sky. The sight would be fantastic 😉
So where do we buy the

T shirts?? :diablo:
Well we are talking about a period from 80 years ago thereabouts so the roofs will have had abit of work done to them over the years as well as the layout of the yard.. The lighting im going to throw on the aircraft may dazzle out a lot of the markings but the number 7 may still be seen. Ive a long way to go yet..
Thanks for the info though Schneiderman. With a name like that i guess you like that era?
In one way Key have protected the Forum 3 from some heavy legal issues but the 3 seem to be scapegoats and Key deemed wrong to not stand by its members.
In another they have fired up issues that will never be solved becouse of too many ins n outs that would require a legal team and stupid amounts of money if things got heavy. I dont think the forum is run with that kind of budget
No use in everyone running away and trying protest against whats gone on by not posting and stopping membership. The forum would carry on becouse new members will come along who have no reason to stand up for an argument that began way before they joined.. They join for aviation and not politics but i dare say all this will kick off again sometime in the future.
.. One big mess if you ask me but who is really at fault??.. There are things i would never say online unless i am willing to stand by my words or face my accusers nose to nose. The pen might be mightier than the sword but you never forget a bloodied nose and who gave it you 😉

But that means you Mods and Key must be able to understand and cater for everyones ( in the world ) viewpoints, every companies policies and know every legal in n out for everything and be able to have the ability to judge it within a few seconds of someone somewhere writing something on the forum that someone somewhere may find offencive or read into the wrong way..
Also the “SOMEONES” writing the words must to a certain extent be prepared for legal action every time they put finger to keyboard.
Its not relevant; when Key are contacted with threats of legal action, they must do something.
As I said earlier, Key are held, in law, to have published the comments in question, as the website is theirs. Thus the complainants redress is to Key Publishing. Key Publishing’s redress is to the user in question. (Not a legal mind either, but that’s how I see it).
Paul, whenever this happens, our users suggest they will stop buying magazine xyz. In point of fact, I suggest that Key are the injured party here. Look elsewhere to change your allegiances.
Did Key publish the comments??. The words that you are writing now are hot off the press but published by you on this forum via the use of freedom of speech. You now yourself could be liable to legal action from Key for saying something that may not be true??.
How sad would that be but thats the world we live in but have to sometimes fight to live within.
..
The problem is that things did not get rocky.
The organisation in question linked two largely unrelated posts and jumped to the conclusion that some link was being suggested, which of course it never was. Rather than attempting to clarify, the unnamed organisation, for whatever reasons, chose to arrive waving a big stick.
Moggy
Thanks for clearing that bit up. Still all muddy from the outside though and rather frustrating but you mod chaps are doing a good job as usual 😉
