Does the RuAF still operate any Fishbeds or have they all been phased out?

Also, would like to learn more about the MiG-21R and how it differed from the M/MF and bis.

    Sigh another comparison topic.

Mig-29k can carry more internalfuel than the F-18 but ~ 700 kg less than F-18E, but its smaller weight should make up for that. So their ranges with internal fuel only should be roughly similar.

I don’t know the exact figures but I believe all RD-33 and RD-93 variants have a higher fuel burn rate (gallons/liters/kgs/pounds per hour) than the GE F-404 and F-414. As a result, the Fulcrum will have a shorter range than the Hornet or Superbug even if it carries the same amount of fuel.

😮 All that extra weight! They should make more room on carriers so that the jets can carry more weapons instead of hauling around these mechanisms.

Yes they did scramble a pair of CF-18s. Now, whether or not they had missiles loaded up or not, that’s a different story. Maybe they just had a few inert Sidewinder for show. 😉

Why do you guys have doubts about us having missiles to arm our CF-18’s? Those jets have sidewinders and sparrows, but no AMRAAM’s.

If it is a jab at our government for “starving” our armed forces then it is well placed because it is true. Many of my fellow countrymen and myself are livid that our armed forces are so underfunded. 😡

Nice display, especially considering it was carrying a decent weapons load.

But whoa! That thing spewed almost as much smoke as a Mig-29!

Ugh !!! TRIPOD again !! Why don’t I see the images from T-pod??

    Tripod does not allow hot linking of photos. Go to this page;

    http://vayu-sena.tripod.com/exercise-golden-eagle.html

Or you can also try copy-pasting the URL in a new window.

On the M2000 cockpit pic, why is the word “Dummy” painted on the UFC (Up Front Controller?). Is it perhaps a faux mission computer interface which they put there so that the actual (possibly secret) one, could be hidden from prying eyes?

    No flamers please.

    ‘It’s pilot was martyred’

If the pilot was able to RTB and circle, why wouldn’t he have been able to eject when it became clear it wasn’t going to recover from it’s nose down attitude?

If the J7 has the same ejection seat as the early MiG-21, then it is quite possible it didn’t work. Those early Russian ejection seats were not known for their dependability. Of course, they more than corrected that with the K-36 series – arguably the best ejection seats around now.

Still, may the pilot’s soul rest in peace and condolences to his family. 🙁

At this time, until the F-18 story is confirmed by another source other than the Times of India, it should be taken with a large cup of salt.

While very interesting if true, this could be pure DDM ignorance.

How many are said to be ordered and are they going to be the old ones or are they going to be upgraded to the Block-50 level? Thanks.

The old ones are now being used by the US Navy Agressor squadron. I believe they will be new airframes and therefore will be Block-40/50 or newer since the older spec Falcons have been out of production for some time.

    More purchases

The chief of air staff said the IAF is also looking for 126 more aircraft, which could include Mirage and Mig-21s among others.

I hope he meant MiG 29 M2’s. I didn’t know there was an option of further Bison upgrades.

Nice pictures, especially the Mi17 one. What are the stores that it is carrying? Also, is this the first time Pakistan has acquired aircraft from Russia?
