Not totally CGI
Thanks Mark 12, I thought my eyes were playing tricks when I spotted what looked like CGI…
…and I think I’ve just had a premonition about Dam Busters 2007.
bugg*r.
…and the throttle quadrant looks more American than British…
…sorry Dave, hope you can prove me wrong!
This probably contains a full explanation, but I haven’t got time to plough through it all.

It’s at the Maralinga site, by the way. I assume this is distinct from the Woomera Range?
Heres an extract:-
I do not have a good feeling about this film. Not a good feeling at all.
Still a bit of work to do in the make up department!
WP840,
Yours is Old Sarum at a guess (and not by checking co-ordinates!)
But is Popham any more remote than Shoreham for your average Southerner?
I agree with everything Mark says.
But let me play the devil’s advocate for a mo’. Would Andy’s retirement from the aerojumble scene perhaps give a boost to the survivors such as Popham, Dave Farnsworth’s at Whitwick, Newark Aeroboot, etc?
All suffer from relatively low attendance by “punters” (sorry, hate that word) but the fact is there are some really good stalls that you never see at Shoreham.
Or are these venues considered too far to travel by your average ‘jumbler?
The Hercules VI and XVI A.P. lists a Rotax C1231 starter.
But it is a combined electrical/hand starting type.
I didn’t know about his flying career.
I mostly remember him as a Special Constable, on market days in my home town, and for his recordings, of course.
The Telegraph obituary makes for interesting reading. There’s more to “Blaster” Bates than I ever imagined…

R.I.P.
We’ll be there.
Same old stall, same old crap.
Although, I won’t particularly miss Shoreham as a venue.
Do it the “direct” way and get stranded on the M25 for “quite a while”, do it the “least hassle route” and it’s 300 miles from home (each way).
Move it nearer the “centre” (of the universe) and it may get re-invigorated by dealers and buyers.
It’s worth a go.
See you on the day!
37F is Aero Engine Accessories – Combined Hand and Electric Starters.
One of the pictures shows the casing as stamped…C3001, which is a Rotax Eclipse type.
These are decribed in A.P.1181, Volume 3, Part 1C, Section 9.
No idea what they were fitted to but the above A.P. ought to give some help.

My first attempt at shooting a movie on my digital camera.
It might have been better if I’d read the instructions first!
and it went to a buyer in Germany for film work.
Just thinking aloud, this film work in Germany may well have been the “Dresden – The Inferno” made-for-TV film that is mentioned in one of the Dambusters re-make threads.
I recall wondering which replica they were using and this makes it pretty obvious.
