Just a quick heads up for anyone who remembers the Sharks display team.I have a signed picture done in a caricature style by and artist who signed the work “Paf 93”.
The picture was done to mark the end of the last team year in 1992 and is 27″ wide,22″ high and has been professionally framed.
I am selling this picture as I need to raise some money for a project that I am undertaking in 2010 to support the work of Leulaemia Research (LRF).
If you,or anyone you may know may be interested in buying this peice of Naval history, it is now for sale on Ebay. There is a reserve, but this is due to the fact that I am only selling for a good cause, and don’t want to see it go for a sum that will be of no use to my intended use 🙂
If you want more info about the project, or about the picture, please go to http://www.scirocco2morocco.blogspot.com
Many thanks.Andy 🙂
Hi there. Thanks for the link to Maurice.Does he have a website or an email i can contact him on ?.I have spoken to Peter at Hangar 11 today and he thinks the venue is suitable for a flypast as it has plenty of open land around it and a large resevoir to the front !.Peter is going to send me a quote for attending the event in a P-51, but if anyone else is interested then please let me know, perhaps some american vehicles would be nice ! :-).Andy
Cheers guys !;) .To be honest i am quite looking forward to it really although the amount of organisation that needs to be sorted is mindblowing.I just realised that my passport ran out about 2 years ago,so thats one thing i will have to sort without delay !.Getting the car ready which involves having it resprayed, parts replaced and the manufacture of our trailer (the rear half of another donated Scirocco !)is quite time consuming, and the amount of time I spend on the PC writing blogs, sending emails and uploading pictures/video’s is also taking up an awful lot of time…especially with 3 kids running around all the time :p .
We are hoping to gat a space at the Waddington airshow this year (The Air Ambulance is stationed there), so if anyone has any strings to pull or favours to call in please feel free to help us to get a pitch…it could potentially generate a lot of loose change for 3 good causes !
Cheers.Andy

Hello all.Well i have been away from the forum for quite some time now, the reasons for which i will mention later.
I can’t beleive the number of fantastic photographs this thread has brought out, many thanks to all who have contributed:D .To dicover that the picture that i posted was once on the front of the Times was fantastic news (if you can pardon the punn !).
The last few (16) months have been what you would term “interesting” after a routine blood test uncovered the slightly surprising fact that i had developed Chronic Leukaemia, not something you expect to find out when you are only in your 40th year!….and they told me that life was supposed to begin then !:o,and from that point to the present time life has become a little more complicated although the form of the disease i have is a slow developing type which may take years before it causes me any serious problems….we hope !;) .
Recently i have been quite busy raising money for Leukaemia Research (surprise, surprise !),and in September this year myself and a work colleague will be undertaking a very interesting driving challenge to raise money for 3 charities, including an Air Ambulance, but to avoid hijacking this thread i will post details up on a new discussion.Cheers.Andy;)
Aviation Centre on Small Screen !
Just a quick footnote to the article about the Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre.
On Friday we had our pre season meeting to discuss the opening of the Centre on Bank holiday Monday, and one suggestion for an open day special theme was to host an “aeroboot” event.Does anyone have any experience of these events, or know of anyone who may have attended one ?, just that we want to know what sort of response we would have if we decided to go ahead and organize one later in the year !.
After the meeting we had a visit from a film crew interested in interviewing a couple of members for a documentry that is being made titled (i think !) “Air,war and peace. Two of our more senior volunteers (both called Les !) ended up doing “a piece to camera” recollecting their experiences of foriegn airmen serving with the RAF during WW2. The sequence was shot in the courtyard of the centre in front of our JP !…nice !.If anyone has any experience of foreign aircrews serving with the RAF during the Second world war, maybe some interesting stories or photographs, then perhaps you can get in touch with me and i will give you contact details for the production team.Have a great bank holiday.Andy.
wHOOPS !!….invisible picture alert !
I will try that upload again !….is that better. Well spotted sir ! (wanted to see if you are paying attention !).Andy 🙂 :p
Few More JP related pictures !
Ok, here are a few more pictures that i have found on my hard drive this morning !.The logo was one that i designed in 2004 celebrating 50 years of the Jet Provost type (T-shirts are still available at the Aviation centre for £11.00 + P&P !). I also organised a special open day at the Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre (Across the road from RAF Cranwell ) which culminated in a flypast by a JP Tmk5a painted in Poachers colours piloted by Steve Hall. The other clips are of poachers teams and of XP556 which I and my brother in law arranged to get a partial respray by Andy Walsh body repairs in Sleaford (to see the whole article visit the AW Body repairs site).
I will try to find more pictures soon, including several Poachers shots and some team display brochures !.
Best wishes.Andy 😉
Ok. So i was correct about the venue (thanks Kenneth !), now I have a had a better look at the picture and i think (not 100% sure…more like 90% !) that the numbers are as follows:
Nearest aircraft is XR 704, next in XR 667.Lead A/C XR 670 and (if i have got it right !) the aircraft furthest from the camera appears to bear marking XS 210 or 219 ?.
Hope this helps !.
I have about 20-25 other (rare !) b/w piccies that i will try and dig out over the next few days/weeks.
Best wishes.Andy.
