Great shots , like the Delta 763. I am a Glasgow spotter but have been to Pik etc , but never been to EDI. Have to get myself there one day. Well do
    Jamie

Get yourself over there Jamie… variety is the spice of life. 😀

Brilliant shots there of EDI.Like the EI A320 , BA A320 and the Flyglobspan 737

I wish BAA would erect a ‘mound’ on their Ingliston property. The currently have it sown-up tighter than a Duck’s Bum. 😡

    Nice Delta B767 there! 🙂

My sister-in-law was on that flight, I have to get it blown-up for a memento.

Looks like a long run by the CO! Good to see your shots appearing here again. 🙂

Interesting to note that the aircraft in question flew the
inaugural EWR-EDI-EWR flight. And yes it was a long run,
I wish BAA would get rid of that barbed wire, it’s totally
uncalled for given the 360o security camera.

    Nice shot :0
Has that something I like about it that I just can’t place my finger on!

A near parallel approach shot, something unique to
    Edinburgh’s runway 24 from the road? 😮

In the interest of accuracy Ryanair’s Scottish base is, in fact, at Prestwick on the beautiful Ayrshire coast.

Unless they’ve moved it, it’s 30-odd miles from Glasgow. 🙂

Also in the interest of accuracy, Glasgow Abbotsinch is
    in Paisley, Renfrewshire. 😀

Nice to see some expansion from EDI as Jet2 promised.

    The flights are 5x weekly.

Indeed..still awaiting the long promised Easyjet routes. 😮

    bout time Mr O’Leary

I remember similar promises years back, on one occassion FR reckoned it could generate some 4M annual pax
    at EDI.

FR obviously had not reckoned with BAA!

I wouldn’t want them to start pushing their way in and pushing other more established carriers out…

No one in their right mind would… Look at those who have welcomed duplication at other airports, believing that new
business would result. Pax only have ex amount of disposable income..over-capacity is disastrous.

[QUOTE=tommyinyork]Companies like Airtours and Thomsons have become a ripp off in the past couple of months and no longer do the excellent deals they once did.
    QUOTE]

Some folk who have booked last minute with High Street
Tour Operator’s airlines have secured excellent discounts.

I doubt these panic fares can be sustained though and
High Street flight programmes will be seriously curtailed
    in the next few years.

The High Street could of course fight back by basing aircraft at airports they have neglected in the pass.

Its not the travel agents who decide where the flights leave from

Really? Taking into account the biggest bulk of High Street
Shops are tied to parent tour operators and their respective airlines, only a few independents are free to give independent advice and book clients accordingly.

All immaterial now given folk are no longer relying on High Street travel agents and are going DIY for their flights.

Flights I might add that are available from more airports,
giving passengers more local choice than ever before.

I haven’t looked in detail at the overall figures for the first half, it appears that GSM may have as he’s stated that international traffic has not fallen…and the reduction overall is a result of domestic traffic. This automatically dispels Silver Snapper’s points.!

I would not quote GSM as an authority… there is a question mark over a lookalike in alt.airports.uk.glasgow presently. http://link.toolbot.com/google.co.uk/22430

As for travel agents, one only has to look at their window displays in Scotland and also on ITV teletext to see where
upwards of 90% of available flights are departing from.
Thanks for your unbiased input here rdc1000, very refreshing. 🙂
