Get in line, been waiting 4 years! Lol.
I’ll have grand kids by the time mmrca comes to iaf.
But the production rate could be varied to counter it which ever way it goes.
Yes ADA should and even IAF be held responsible for the tax payers money. But how about that small 2 trillion dollars in Swiss banks that the news channels are now being so vocal about?
And by any chance do you guys here think about the kick backs in defense deals that few responsible governments servants might have deposited outside the country?
Who knows what these kick backs are for especially when the presence of foreign arm lobbyist are well known. May be the foreign arms dealers wanted the India government to support LCA/Arjun and all others indigenous efforts better
Get this fact right, India is ruled by nationalistic saints whose sole aim is the rise of India as a technology super power and they have supported LCA program from the word go. But it is the incompetent engineers and scientist who have let this nation down. So how about disbanding ADA, DRDO and HAL or probably applying the numero uno solution “privatize the PSUs”.
The good thing about our western neigbor is their citizen knows what is the cut. It is 10%.
I agree. with the Pakistanis being able to build the JF-17 themselves except for the engine, radar, and weapons.. it forms a good low end back bone while the J-20 is the silver bullet that will be needed to deter high end IAF and Iranian Fighters.
Yes a 50-100 J-20s will give the PAF the much needed shot in the arm when IAF acquires FGFA/PAK FA.
I think the baby just started kicking in the womb, but thats it. There is still a lot more to cover. So I guess we may have to wait some more time.
How many test hours does an engine generally need?
Kaveri engine flight testing successful
New Delhi: India’s indigenous aircraft engine, Kaveri, was successfully flight tested at Gromov Flight Research Institute in Moscow, the DRDO saidon Wednesday.
The test was conducted at the Flying Test Bed at Gromov, with the engine running right from the take-off to landing, flying for a period of over 1 hour up to an altitude of 6,000 metres yesterday, it said in a press release here.
The engine helped the IL-76 aircraft test bed fly at speeds of 0.6 mach in its maiden flight, according to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
“The engine control, performance and health during the flight were found to be excellent. With this test, Kaveri engine has completed a major milestone of development programme,” it added
During the coming months, further 50 or 60 test flights would be carried out to mature the engine in terms of reliability, safety and airworthiness, it said.
I never had any idea till now that Islamabad and not Washington need to approve the sales of P8I, C-17, Harpoons, M777, MMRCA, E-2D to India. 🙂
Had the IA, IN, IAF known this before all they had to do was to travel a few KM west than fly those 1000 KMs. Now thats what I call lack of austerity from these leaders. 😡
I wonder whether this approvals would require any payments too, did someone say a 2. Ah my bad. But I must say a quite entertaining thread.
‘Let’s move India away from Russian weapons’
I hope the senator understands what he speaks or may soon have to face the music from the approvers;).

New saying : Someone will always be in the well.
If I could buy 100s of fighter planes with next day door step delivery and a device like that of Matrix movie to program 100 pilots in a second and in a similar fashion raise an amphibious assault capability I would probably say this scenario is feasible.
But since it is not, any announcement of the purchase of Su-30s or J-11 will trigger an alarm bell in Britain that would allow Britain to be prepared even before the first J-11 lands on the door step.
I am not sure whether such a high profile defense deal could be hidden under wraps without letting the wind take the fragrance all the way from Asia/South America to Europe

India’s Rustom-1 UAV Makes “First Flight” Again, This Time Successfully
The Rustom-1 is a technology feeder programme (based on the NAL LCRA) for the more capable Rustom-H medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAV
Makes me remember of an IOC/FOC official statements on a different thread, do not know if the wisdom can be universally applied :diablo:

Quote from news item:
What does this mean, are we going to see an aircraft different from T-50?
MMRCA, FGFA and the list goes on…..But each excels the other in creating more confusions.
If they do not test tactical BM due to Air Safety reason they would not test a SAM for the same reason in Rajasthan and Punjab which is not the case , the civil air traffic has a narrow corridor while most of airspace is in control of IAF.
These test can be conducted in many areas which are not populated and over different ranges , that is how IAF-IA conducts exercises in those areas without killing any civilian 😉
The only reason why all the Agni and Prithvi test are conducted at ITR and not at their deployed location or exercises is political , something better to done away with.
Would it have anything to do with closeness to the border, a BM test may be misinterpreted?
US major GE wins engine bid for Indian LCAs
“GE was declared as the lowest bidder” by the Price Negotiating Committee headed by Chief Controller for Aerospace systems Dr Prahlada.
“The Prime Negotiating Committee for the alternate engine for LCA Mk 2 has finalised the comparative statement of tenders…After evaluation and acceptance of the technical offer provided by both Eurojet and GE Aviation, the commercial quotes were compared in detail and GE Aviation was declared as the lowest bidder,” an official statement from DRDO said in New Delhi.
Only hope for Europe will be a scandal allegation 🙁
Another bid wrested by the Americans over the Europeans using political games…the Indian govt used “life cycle” costs to show that the GE engine is cheaper. I am guessing the EJ-200 was per unit cheaper.
Baring a major surprise the MRCA will be the Hornet..
A real heart breaker…….
I think no one will launch nuclear missiles at a possible launch by enemy, unless the enemy fired a whole lot of ICBMs at them.
For such events a nuclear launch would happen after impact, the conventional warheads displayed for Prithvi missile point towards that.
Not if all the missiles are targeted at your nuke storage facility especially as you may no longer have a retaliatory capability.
