You are making too much of nothing. If you got to BRF or another dozen Indian sites or forums you will see much worse Anti-China sentiment and talk about breaking china into confederations etc. You are ****-scared of China period, I wish the people here had the confidence of Chinese who took on the UN troops with basically a peasant army in the Korean War. The only War you will fight with China is in your head matt.
China and India will fight their Wars elsewhere over resources but I am 100% sure that there will be no direct conflict.
Well we need not be certain about anything. I guess when Britain signed the deal with Germany, they would never have expected a world war to begin soon.
And what, Indian Army never expected a Kargil in the winter, Pakistan never might have thought about Bangladesh. Expect the most unexpected to face the worst unexpected.
At least the China factor will ensure a speedier {comparatively ;)} modernization of armed forces
I would consider interms of not so important reports, but many deal with issue throughout. The thread is aimed at mostly non Indians who may not visit sites such as Bharat Rakhsak, where many of the posts are already posted.
If we just want to have squadron numbers we could just mass produce the MIG 21 or LCA. May be IAF will look outside for a primary trainer if the new HAL one is delayed.
Thank you Ante…
Yep mass production of LCA is the way forward but I guess we need to wait for the right time when LCA mk2 comes out.
Hi Ante,
If possible, could you please quote just the relevant part of the news report, its a bit hard to follow the thread.
JMT
Thank you.
I heard that IAF is looking for a fighter aircraft with good AtoG capability as MMRCA.
They should be nuts isn’t for the LTTE have pounded:mad: the Srilankans with what just 3 or 4 Zlin Z-143. May be the 126 (or 1260 – solves the squadron problem too:diablo:) aircraft will come for what say 1 billion $. [Sorry but couldn’t resist after reading a few posts š® above]
The word meaning of deterrence is below
deĀ·terred, deĀ·terĀ·ring, deĀ·ters
v.tr.
To prevent or discourage from acting, as by means of fear or doubt
Once acted there is no longer deterrence.
Even a single nuke bomb can prevent or discourage an enemy from acting.
If we are looking at how many an enemy is gonna use at us, and we want to see how many nukes we want to use at them, then the term to use would be “Mutually Assured Destruction” MAD. God, I hope we never come to that, ever.
Why not start developing the domestic option with realistic funds and support and invest into developing the people and the facilities they need.
Say the government decides to invest into the PAK-FA program and develop a variant for the AF, and in return they get the technology of a super duper 5th gen fighter, so what?
We still need to develop the next generation which requires skills to innovate , what steps forward towards that goal will we take through this decision?
Yes you are absolutely right in saying that we need a domestic program, which I believe would begin once the LCA moves into production.
But if you already have a fifth generation fighter in your hand, the technologies at least if you are familiar with, wouldn’t it help in better understanding of the requirement itself. When LCA started we said “ok it should be similar to Mig 21” and later we said “exceed capability of Mirage 2000”. The PAK-FA program will help in the successful completion of MCA and would also reduce the risk of sole dependecy on the MCA project too, just my opinion
Please note that most of the “delays” attributed to Tejas project are due to the IAF itself. In 1990s, it delayed in giving the final go-ahead for the project by 3 years in 1993 (refer “Tejas Story”, by Philip Rajkumar). Other delays include sanctions in the wake of nuclear tests.
These bureaucratic delays will surely be avoided in case of MCA — if IAF is serious about it.
Please note that Russia had reportedly approached China to participate in PAK-FA, but China refused. It is pursuing the indigenous J-X, with full active support from PLAAF (it is a “pipedream” to see IAF being so supportive of DRDO).
So the delays were caused due to IAF alone…hmm how about the Kaveri and MMR….isn’t this the easy way to wash away ones responsibility….And with this kind of blame games still prevalent you really expect that the bueraucratic delays will not affect MCA..especially with export lobby and ego kings still at large….Sorry, but as you said its just a pipe dream
Comparing Indian aerospace indusrty to China is still childish. There is still a lot of people trying to gauge India and China all the same weighing balance….well the truth is India is very far behind, but having the potential to catch up, if the leaders and the country men are serious. Rajkumars book itself will give you the reasons.
In my view, it is high time that the IAF realized that in it’s 21st century vision of “Global Reach” and “Strategic operations”, committing on indigenous weapons is not just imperative, but it’s the only option. Gone are the days of a third-world republic during Cold-War depending on all hardware from Soviet Russia. It MUST drop the PAK-FA from it’s plans, and wholeheartedly commit itself to ONLY the indigenous M.C.A.
And then what more, if the indigenous program is to get delayed just like the LCA/Kaveri, IAF should sit all the time praying to God to show miracles and get it completed.
Do you realize the necessity for redundancy sometimes?
The current approach may have mistakes, but then rather than trying to correct it, there is no point in scrapping the whole idea. We are not dealing with just 0 and 1 state.
I am sure that other than the few press releases there is not much information forthcoming. To make a judgment based them would be just like how people around the world criticized the IAF decision to go for MKIzing the Su – 30.
So let us be a bit more patient and see what IAF does about this, after all they are not just a bunch a kids. Most of what we are discussing in this forum would have gone through their minds far before since they have better visibility of what is happening.
