Would this count as her last flight?
Whats that little R/C plane next to the Cat?????
How about petcock to give it it’s proper name?
Egg box’s? Looks like my Nan knitted it…………….
Are the black and white photo’s on the site from the same shop? they look like Brian Anglisses shop at Brooklands? before the Hurrie came along?
My two cents worth? She has a well known and documented history from birth to being hung up in the rafters, it’s fitting to leave her alone and preserve NOT restore! it’s all history for this particular aircraft shes not a “representation” of a genuine BOB surviver she is one! so leave the old girl alone in her service applied paint and just be grateful that nobody in the 60/70’s decided to spruce her up a bit!!!
I restore cars for a living and if I had my way they would all get a rub down with WD-40 and left alone! But unfortunately the guys paying for the Resto don’t always feel that way. In my 35 years at this I’ve only had one customer want it done that way and funnily enough it was a 1950 Jeep! mechanically perfect but it looked like we’d just dragged it out of the barn.
You need to read through Tims’ posts Nick:p
Not Sneval.
How do you collate all of Tim’s post’s?
And Tim I thank you for your service and efforts!! you may not see them as worthy of a book but they are mate!!
Take a look at Raydot racing mirrors looks to be perfect to me. I cant post a picture but here’s a link to Moss motors http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=37057

Biggles post was perfect the only reason this “artifact” is in the condition it is in now is because it was hung up out of reach of the people who would have repainted her many years ago! Put her back up for another 70 odd years I say!
I cant answer your question directly but if its Merlin 100 series engines you need info on you really need to get a copy of the Rolls-Royce Heritage trusts book “The Merlin 100 Series” by Alec Harvey-Bailey and Dave Piggott. I guarantee your brain will swell with the amount of information contained in this book!!! Its in the Historical series #19
To me there both beautiful in there own right but a way of distinguishing them……………Ones a legend and the others a leg end? you can pick your own description…………
He would have committed to take off by the time the engine let go and didn’t have time to consider an abort I would have thought, glad it ended as well as it did.
Brilliant!! Stunning and all those other long words.
Well I’ve not been here long but the above mentioned gentlemen seemed to have been a huge asset to this Forum and I will miss them if they choose or are forced not to come back after the conclusion of any inquiry.
