Wow this MAKS is turning out to be a really good one with first the MiG-35 export news and now this weapons reveal. It hasn’t even officially started yet.
I was really hoping they would show off some new weapons for the PAK-FA, not disappointed. I’m guessing the Grom is meant to be a supersonic missile similar to the 3M-54E sketch with a supersonic sprint capacity though made for internal carriage on aircraft.
Speaking of MiG:
http://www.vpk-news.ru/news/26691MiG is planning to start RVV-BD testing next year on the MiG-35.
Further, they are testing a targeting pod, I presume the one we saw pics of earlier.
Good new. Hopefully this means that issues with the AESA radar have been sorted.
Interest News. Besides they countries people have already stated I would also like the throw Azerbaijan in their. They’ve sign a number for military contracts
with Russia recently for just about everything besides fighter aircraft.
As for Egypt, it would be weird for MiG to be the processes of assembling what looks to be 3 airframes if they haven’t sign all the paperwork as yet. So i would rule them out.
Though if you go and look past defence contracts that have been signed with Russia and look at the ones that were kept secret only two countries come up, Iraq and Syria. So I’m betting these aircraft are for one of them or they could just be prototypes of the MiG-35 being built for he RuAF for testing.
There was news a while ago that Sukhoi’s recon/attack UAV will be on shown off at MAKS
I’m also hoping that some of the new generation weapons for PAK-FA and other aircraft will be revealed.
Some brighter News
RAC MiG: Russia delivered more than ten upgrade kits for MiG-29 fighters to India
Russian Aviaton » Monday August 10, 2015 16:56 MSKRussian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC MiG) delivered more than ten upgrade kits for MiG-29 fighters to India, TASS reports with reference to the RAC MiG CEO Sergey Korotkov. “RAC MiG has already delivered over 10 upgrade kits and five of them has already been used by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) to upgrade the aircraft. Two out of five upgraded fighters are already performing flights. Three more jets are being prepared for the flight tests,” Korotkov said.
A total of 63 jets of the type should be upgraded to MiG-29UPG version. It was reported earlier that four aircraft would be upgraded this year. Earlier India took delivery of six jets upgraded by the RAC MiG.
As for deliveries of MiG-29K carrier-based fighters to Indian navy, the corporation is going to deliver six jets of the type this year and six more – in 2016. “These deliveries will have the contract fulfilled,” Korotkov explained.

About the MiG-35, the 30 airframes will definitely just be the first batch. There were reports not long ago of 63 airframe brought some reports when as high as 100. As the MOD has signed a R&D contract with MiG to develop the MiG-35 to meet RuAF requirements, this isn’t some charity contract to try and get the MiG-35 export orders though it will probably help. RuAF obviously see a need for a lighter Fighter then the Flanker.
I’m really interested to know what bells and whistles the RuAF version of the MiG-35 will come with? Will it be a major departure to what we’ve seen in MiG prototypes so far?
Weapons!!! 😉

New Russian Reconnaissance-Strike Drone to Be Unveiled at MAKS Airshow
Took me a while to find this old video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxxW3TQNQOk
Go to 2:45 which explains the bail-out system in the Mi-28N (it a old video so I’m not sure if it was introduced into the product Mi-28N someone going to have to confirm that). As the video say it only usable above some 300ft. The helicopter being to low in this case. I’m also guessing it not as quick as a ejection process so the helicopter has to be in somewhat stable flight.
Also if you keep watching to 3:20 it explains the hand landing damping system which probably saved the gunners life and the emergency compartment to rescue downed crew.
RIP to the pilot.
Though I’m really surprised the gunner was able to walk out after such an impact.
Wow
Nice picture. Lovely the scheme too.
Is this news accurate? Is India really going to add another Aircraft type to their fleet just so they can be built in house. If true then why buy the 36 Rafale’s is the first place.
‘Make in India’ for 90 medium combat jets’
Nothing to do with old engines being overworked and underserviced?
Have three 4 engine aircraft have multiple engine failures in the span of a few days. No way.
Definitely can only be two things fuel starvation(not likely again) or mostly likely fuel contamination.
The MiG-29K is looking good. Still wise they stuck with the light grey that MiG been running on their prototypes. Maybe when/if the Air force order for the MiG-35 goes through.
Looks like the actual munition glides after being deployed by a carrier / carrier rocket.
Ok so it more like a rocketed assisted Small Diameter Bomb then a missile like the brimstone or hellfire.
More pics of that “self-navigating combat munition”; pics are from 2012, so presumably work has been going on for sometime:
Is this munition meant to be rocket assisted or a guide bomb?
some more pics of Project “Lavina”
Wow, Love the look of of that ship. What are the chances what we will see it built now that the Mistral deal is dead?
