Duxford Thursday 29th June. With the rain staying away today for a change there was a flurry of activity this afternoon ending with the arrival of the pair of Norwegian Vampires.
Pairs was the theme today with the Lancaster joining the Blenheim briefly.

‘Anyone seen ‘Yellow10’s’ new paintwork, a very weathered desert camo ‘Red 8’ scheme? No doubt someone’ll post pics soon. ‘

The Lancaster at Duxford has been a hot topic of conversation recently but today marks a significant anniversary of the P.51 Mustang at the airfield.
40 years ago today on the 15th June 1977 a P.51D N5747 transited through Prestwick to Duxford to become the first of its type to make a flying visit to the airfield I believe since they were based at Duxford during WWII. Flown over from the USA it displayed at the Duxford airshow that weekend ( 18-19/6/77 ) returning to the USA in the early July. The aircraft was subsequently to return again to Duxford in the 90s when operated by Christoph Jacquard as F-AZJM ‘Miss Temptation ‘ but after being sold was tragically lost in an accident in the Swiss Mountains in 1998.
A few pictures below to show its time at Duxford in 1977 from slides in my collection.
