Now that we are into the quietest and grimmest time of the year at Duxford and with the reduced airborne activity and reduced camera activity by our resident Paparazzi, perhaps it would be a good time to look at some of the highlights of DXD 2015 or maybe they could treat us to some of their archive shots? I say this, as today it was dark, wet, windy and cold at the airfield and the only activity was the movement of excavators on the site of the new ARC hangar. Or perhaps we need a new thread “Duxford Digger Diary”…:D
From a slide in my collection ( actual photographer unknown ) taken 40 years ago ( 29/6/75 ) at Duxford is Spitfire TR8 G-AIDN / MT818 . Hopefully with her return to flight very soon we will see her back at Duxford again next year ??

I don’t think it’s been mentioned elsewhere on this thread – from the Museum website:
“The deHavilland Aircraft Museum is commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the first flight of the de Havilland DH 98 Mosquito Prototype.
Friday 27th to Sunday 29th November 2015* Open daily from 11am until 3.30pm.
At 2.45pm on each of these days, the fully restored ‘The Wooden Wonder’ will be rolled out of the hangar to emulate the same event 75 years ago.”My other half and I are going to be there tomorrow, our second visit to the museum, and it’ll be great to get back there…. I’m going to take plenty of photos, especially of W4050 outside the hangar, so will share a few for those who aren’t able to travel.
Best of luck !! I think your chances of getting good photographs outside are very optimistic. They have a large Marquee erected immediately in front of the hangar which will make any good photo opportunities almost impossible even if there are not any people about which is unlikely. I understand they did not roll it out yesterday in the end as planned due to the weather. Best of luck anyway !!

Below are two earlier pictures of this immaculate Ryan when in the USA.

Prior to that it was seen in a white scheme with gold trim at Pearson Field Airport & Museum, Washington State ( one of the oldest operating airfields in the USA dating back to 1905 ) in May 1998.

How quickly a year passes. November 20th 2014 marked the return to flight of the Blenheim as if we would ever forget !

Duxford – Thursday 12th November.
At around 3pm this afternoon as the dark clouds started to roll in from the south and the sun started to go down in the west one of Duxfords long term inmates and restorations back to flying condition took to the air again. Chipmunk WK522 / G-BCOU has been a familiar sight in hangar 2 for almost as long as one can remember ( G-INFO shows its last CofA expired 20 years ago in March 1995 ) being lovingly restored back to airworthiness by Peter Loweth and family who always had time to update us with progress over the years. Congratulations to Peter and all concerned for getting another Chippie back in the air.

The TFC P.40C G-CIIO was also taken down to the west end tie downs today for some high power engine runs. Seen below returning to hangar 3.

It was nice also to see Bronco G-BZGL nearing the end of its restoration out for its first engine runs today. It arrived some 15 years ago !
