Duxford – Thursday 23rd January.
In between the heavy rain this morning and the hail and rain of late afternoon the sky cleared with some pleasant sunshine and aircraft activity.
A very welcome visitor from its North Norfolk base was DH90 Dragonfly G-AEDU.

Duxford — Tuesday 21st January
At a rather foggy DX this morning the only noted movement had been the Shackleton, which is now back in AirSpace.

I should imagine DCW and/or Duxman were probably there today so might have something to report – if anything happened :D.
Brian
All looked quiet when I went by around 1pm. Nothing to report or photograph

Hi Duxman, always enjoy seeing your photos of Duxford. I was lucky to be flying, the silver Harvard today and i can confirm my passenger did rather enjoy his trip. Will ask if i’m allowed to mention the reason for the T6 fun today.
In the meantime have a photo of my Harvard that i could used as my screensaver? ( preferably not one of my bounced landing!)
If you are interested i would be delighted to show you around one of our T6’s next time i’m up at Duxford.
Best regards, Brian
Thanks for your response Brian. Your passengers today certainly seemed to enjoy the experience. I have sent you separately a private message.

Good news, IWM Duxford will be fully open to the public, staff, volunteers and site users from Thursday 9 January.
🙂 Lobster
That’s good news although the IWM website has not yet been updated and notices at the site still says closed to visitors but the that seems to have been lifted for visiting expensive helicopters as the photo below indicates taken in the last hour ! (The first movement noted for 2014 ?)
Perhaps now an opportunity to show some more pictures of G-AEDB at DX in the 70/80s ?

Very interesting to read your early experiences. Below is a picture taken at Lt Staughton on the 13th May 1978 ( 4 days before your visit !! ) when I recollect the Rapides new colours may have been shown for the first time during a Colton Aviation fly-in. Again if I remember correctly aircraft were invited that had been painted etc by them.

With no movements to report so far this year what with the weather and the current closure of DX a rummage thru the archives came across the attached picture of Sally B in 1975 at Duxford , in a strip of negatives not previously scanned. I am sure some will recollect the occasion !! ( more to follow later on that )
Duxman
To follow up the image of Sally B, the date was the 24th August 1975 that marked he departure of David Tallichets B.24J N94559 from Duxford (en route to USA via Stansted and Prestwick) which resulted in a formation flypast with the BBMF and the Ormond Haydon-Baillie Sea Fury. We covered the event in the Duxford 2013 thread in March last year with a few colour images but the black and white pictures below have just come to light and not been published before so on this rather wet Saturday morning in the Duxford area they may bring some past memories back.
