Duxford Thursday 7th November. Good to see some activity today after the rain of the last few days. The ARCo TR9 was flying in this morning and the improved weather found a few visiting aircraft including 2 American built Classic types.

Some interesting news from G-INFO:
G-WCME Grumman FM-2 Wildcat ex N585FM
G-WCMI Grumman FM-2 Wildcat ex N750FM
G-WCMO Grumman FM-2 Wildcat ex Bu 55404
All registered 27-9-13 to Bygone Engineering Ltd.Something for everyone!
Interestingly G-WCME is one of the old CAF aircraft which was flown as N681S. Recorded as crashing last in 2003 although apparently rebuilt and sold. Seen below in 2001

N681S in 2001 now G-WCME by AJCDuxman, on Flickr
also G-WCMI was previously flown in the USA as N12371 – it was apparently involved in fatal crashed on 14/10/83 and was then sold. Seen below in 1983 possibly just before its accident (photo by John Kerr)

[QUOTE=DCW;2078880]Duxford Friday 18th October:
This morning saw the first engine run from the TFC Hellcat since 2008. The R-2800 started promptly and sounded great during a short first run.
Many congratulations to all at TFC for their achievement.
.. and reviewing their success as the sun almost broke thru briefly !!

I recall having the auction catalogue for the 1984 sale if its the same one that had Sabre G-ATBF in it.
David – Yes the same one. In fact that as I remember was the second of the Christies Auctions that took place at Duxford and included Spitfire PL983 and Firefly WD833 amongst other gems ( the first auction held the previous year 14/4/83 I think of course involved Spitfire MH434 )

The Jet Ranger was more work , than loading people on GTM. G-AGSH was flown up by one of the Russavia pilots to be put in an Auction in the 1980’s.

I have it at DX on 10/8/84 for the Christies Auction that took place on the 13th August. Seen below in hangar 2.

Nice warm Autumn sunshine at Duxford today.
We are use to the 3 based Dragon Rapides local flying but a visiting specimen is more of a rarity so it was nice to see The Old Warden based example this afternoon.
