As everybody has said, it was a really elegant design and I hope I’m around long enough to see the Duxford example in the open air once again. By the way why were so many of the shots at Cambridge? I assume Marshalls must have taken on the work but did they also have the design authority?
Regarding their visits to Cambridge the BKS aircraft were regular visitors at Cambridge on horse charters in connection with racing at Newmarket as were the Dan Air aircraft on other charters. The BEA aircraft were stored at Cambridge when withdrawn by BEA. The Jordanian and Norronafly aircraft were worked on by Marshalls at Cambridge.

It would be interesting to know the EXACT fate of this aircraft, as it appears not to have been damaged or written off in an accident. Never seen any mention of it, or any part of it, being preserved.
Sister ship G-AHOM expired around the same time: it finished up on the dump at Thruxton, leaving
G-AFFD as the sole survivor of the breed. It is reported as being restored to airworthiness.Planemike
As I remember it Q6 G-AEYE ‘migrated’ somehow to Cranfield and was visable for a while parked on the far side of the airfield. Somebody may be able to confirm that is where it ended its days.

DCW…….
Fascinating collection. Many thanks for sharing it with us. Wish it was possible to add to the information. I do recognise a number of the locations.

Dave and I would of course appreciate any feedback on locations as some are unknown to us at this time.

Messengers
Would it be reasonable to assume that the late Mr Lawrence had a penchant for Messengers or is his collection of negatives more broadly based?
No – Its just that there were a lot about in the late 40s and 50s !! As DCW indicates he and I are currently in the process of scanning a lot of Gerrys old negatives dated from the late 40s. He lived in Cambridge hence a lot of the images are taken at Cambridge Airport perhaps easily recognised by the old airport control or the apron outside hanger 1 or alternatively with the old cement works in the background.

Heron Identification
To me 516L looks like one of the codes they use on the Paris Airshow Aircraft ?? Probably one of the BAC Herons ??
