This discussion/argument has been going on for over 68 years now, so gawd knows what either of you expect to learn from it now?
When you’re both dead and gorn, there will probably be another pair of twits arguing the same point, so why bother?
Gather ye all your references, research every book and snippet of information ye both can find and when fully armed with all the gen, put on the gloves and come out fighting.
If I live long enough, I’d love to be the referee.:p
:D:D:D Lack of engines on the, erm B-47?
Why not read what the guys who flew both types had to say?
Douglas Bader:
“It was strong, highly maneuverable, could turn inside the Spitfire and of course the Me 109.”
Al Deere:
“In fact, the Hurricane, though vastly more manoeuvrable than either the Spitfire or the Me 109, was so sadly lacking in speed and rate of climb, that its too-short combat experience against the 109 was not a valid yardstick for comparison.”

Which was better? I would say that they were both better than each other!

People are buying the record because they either like it or they like somebody that is singing on it. Some will buy it as a collectors item. I doubt if more than 2 or 3% of the purchases has been made solely to give to the Poppy fund. So, we can still safely knock the programme with the confidence that we are correct.
Knock the programme all you like, but why not give the producers a little praise for intentionally making a record for a worthy charity?
Whichever way you care to look at it, from a cynical or optimistic point of view, over a million quid has gone to a good cause because of it.
Soilders in the Army shouldnt be treated like crap anyway, i would reckon where the ONLY country in the world that the goverement dosnt treat the army with a Little Bit Of Respect.
About time we started treating out Army like the Americans do-Heros!!!
Maybe it’s also long past time to consider whether or not sending troops to far flung countries to fight unwinnable wars is a good idea?

It makes me wonder how much longer the NHS will be able to afford transplants, especially as there’s already a post code lottery involved with many drugs.
The last transplant I heard about, cost a fortune in transport alone.
In my opinion, opt out is a good policy.

it was of course considerably faster and more manoeverable.
Faster than the Spit, yes, more manoeuvrable, no.
But bold figures don’t tell the whole story……
The Hurricanes were (mainly) up against the bombers, the Spitfires were up against the fighters – so the Spits were more likely to suffer a disproportionate number of losses.

Bold figures at this stage in time tell us very little, as bold statements do not.
I respectfully suggest you double check your own bold statement, especially with regard to the BofB!
Just out of interest where did the Hurricane operate that the Spitfire did not? Norway 1940 comes to mind, but major theatres?
Battle of France?
North Africa?
Russia?
Singapore?
Burma?
