😀 Hi Mike, my specialist subject is WWII era combat, but I also know a Jenny when I see one!
And that definitely isn’t one.
John Edward “Jack” Hawkins, 1910-1973.
Harold Thomas Gregson, John Gregson, 1919-1975.
John Michael Terence Wellesley Denison CBE, 1915-1998.
Dulcie Winifred Catherine Bailey, Dulcie Gray, 1919, still living, was married to the above Michael Denison.
Seen here together, a few short years ago:![]()
Humphrey Lestocq, 1919-1984.
NB: Women generally live longer than men!🙁
We should all take a long, hard look at Switzerland, they seem to have managed quite well and survived a couple of World wars with a ‘small’ government.:D

😀 £5.99, is a much better price, bazv!
I might just invest in a copy now.
I wasn’t struck on many of the actors at the time, Michael Denison (of the deep) and Jack Hawkins were never convincing, as wasn’t Dulcie Gray, but old John Gregson never failed to portray a great, stiff upper lipped Englishman.
They’re all a bit ancient or deceased now, like the Carry On film characters, but the memories linger on.
It’s not a Jenny!:diablo:
:D:D:D
Got a feeling Galdri might be a while, so in the meantime try this one (Not you though, Jose!)
I think you should be fair and offer the same clues you gave me.:D
You know I’m not into choppers, but a search can be good fun and I quite enjoyed seeking it out and finding yet another of your one off, rare beast challenges.
I still admire the HE-111 looking cockpit it has.
When I was a youth, I met a guy who had been a Captain in the RAMC. He was captured when the Japanese invaded Singapore and he spent a few years as a POW there until the end of the war.
The photos he showed me were horrific, but I had grown up used to watching cinema newsreels of the death camps when they were liberated, so they didn’t come as that much of a shock to me.
Many servicemen died in Singapore, it was hell there as a POW, but as Capt Macklin explained, the Japanese treated their prisoners exactly as they would expect to be treated themselves if captured, they had no idea that different rules were applied in other countries.
The Geneva Convention was an unknown to them.
It could have been this one:

If that’s your own photo, John A, you might consider donating it to Wiki, cos this is the best they’ve got:
After getting that from my heart, goncraturlations to mr Hamliton, Winning Formula 1 championship is not something that every kid could claim.
Not every kid has the backing of a F1 team.
There will always be the odd one groomed for stardom.
I’m only happy that Ferrari didn’t win everything this season.
As for the crowd, at least they can’t be called colour prejudiced, which is what Brits seem to claim wherever and whenever possible in these situations.
Yes, we Brits are mostly as partisan as any other race, it’s just that so far, we’ve been able to keep it a little more quiet.

Spanish, but not rude.:D
Scunthorpe sounds quite nice, and not too far.
Otherwise the Azores at any time of year and who cares how far when you only live twice?
