perhaps just to clarify, my intention was to compare the historically most significant UK aviation companies, regardless if they are still existing or no longer commercially operating.

Well many thanks for clarifying your intention, Mark.
Here is mine.
1….Supermarine
2….Hawker
3….Avro
4….De Havilland
5….BristolBut then again what do I know?
Based on what?
History?
Development?
Longevity?
Successes?
The story has been told, the history is written, the successes and failures are well known.
At the end of the day, the British aviation industry was thwarted by too much beurocracy and red tape.
If not for those, it could easily have been a world leader.
Blimey, does the UK still have 5 aircraft manufacturers?
The credits are hard to read, Proctor, I had to stop the vid a few times to read them.
Should I go to Specsavers?
Although not initially designed as a cargo transport, the UB-14 was capable of carrying a fair sized payload in 1934.

Near enough, it’s the Bäumer, B IV Sausewind, as opposed to the Bäumer, B II Sausewind.
That’s a good question.
Plenty to look back on when the time finally comes too.
I’d like to be able to find great solace in that remark, but am finding it quite hard.:D

I best remember Eartha for, “Just an Old Fashioned Girl.”
And yes, she found ‘an old fashioned millionaire’ or three on her travels.
She’s listed in my hall of fame, alongside the likes of, Loren, Bardot, and Munroe.

Merry Christmas to all and a Healthy, Prosperous New Year.
The Spanish celebrate Navidad with amigos y familia on the 24th, so we arrived home rather late or, erm, early.
What’s left of today is just for the two of us to have a traditional Christmas day with duck and home made Grimble pud.
Felicidades!
Compared to some of the above, my experiences appear quite pathetic, but I did get to fly an Auster and the little beauty below, when a member of the London Transport Flying Club at Chobham in 1967.
She was then resplendant in red and silver and it appears that she’s now painted in camo.
