    never enough afghan air force pics!

    MiGMan, do you have any info on this event?

    In March 1995, the Taliban closed upon the Hekmatyar’s garrison in Charasiab, which then fleed without firing even a single shot. As if this would not be enough, Dostam and Hekmatyar then turned again against Massoud and new fighting broke out in the Kabul and Khenj areas, during which the last air combats of this war happened: on 7 June DGM AF Su-22s bombed Khenj when they were intercepted by AAF MiG-21s, which shot down one Sukhoi. However, at this stage also the “Taliban AF” – the later Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Air Force (IEAAF), initially created and run by the Pakistanis – appeared, and its MiG-21s shot down two of AAF helicopters over the Samgan Province, on 14 June 1995, when these were transporting ammunition to Massoud’s troops.

    plagarism

    Not a ‘real modifiaction’ of the aircraft… it’s the blatant plagarism/theft/rebranding of someone else’s work… The Getty watermark is still visible on the fuselage (see attached) as well as on the fin.

    Got it!

    Croatian Air Combat Events

    Does anyone have information on these helicopter air combat events:

    24 August 1990, 2 JNA combat aircraft allegedly intercept a Croatian police helicopter trying to disperse a crowd near Knin (?).

    5 Nov 91 HZS An-2 Pursued SA-341 JRViPVO
    HZS – HRVATSKE ZRACNE SNAGE = first name of the Croatian Air Force, today HRZ I PZO!

    July 1992, pilot Matko Raos intercepted a JRViPVO Mi-8 helicopter while underway for a bombing-mission on a Reims-Cessna F.172M. Raos’ aircraft was armed with a single machine-gun, mounted on the side-doors and manned by the co-pilot (who was also throwing home-made bombs during ground-attacks, in WWI-style!), but as soon as he approached the Hip the Serbian pilot increased the speed and outdistanced the slower plane!

    According to a 2002 report:

    * a new rectangular multifunction display (MFD) screen in the forward (gunner’s) cockpit
    * a new forward-looking infra-red (FLIR) system
    * a GPS receiver
    * a new radar-warning receiver.
    * a radar altimeter?

    So kind of Iran’s version of a twin engined AH-1S??!!

    Any other images?

    Also do you have any images of the Cobras during the 1980 – 1988 Gulf War? Especially shot down ones and any images of Hinds / Hips that Cobras shot down!
